I'm working on a pet profile with a bit of a darker color scheme, and I'm finding that the white backgrounds on my pet and its minion are really detracting from the overall look. Is there a way to replace the images with transparent ones, even if I have to edit them transparent myself?
I'm working on this pet, if it helps! Pontchartrain
I really really love your pet! There are some ways to tackle that issue. The simplest thing would be to just edit the images and remove the white background. As soon as you have your image, you can simply change the background using
{
background: url(new_image.png);
}
One method that I have been using quite a lot is to cheat a bit by using blend modes. With lighter backgrounds like yours, it should look kinda good, actually! Here is how your profile looks like if you do it that way. ^^
{ mix-blend-mode: multiply; }
Here some examples of where I tried it out: Ventuswill Bramimonde
Good luck! Can't wait to see the finished profile! ^^

Oh wow, this is perfect, thank you so much! I actually really love the multiply look, especially in the treasure - it made it look like the items are underwater! Your pets' profiles are absolutely incredible, by the way!
It really does look great! It fits it super well. I am glad I could help! And thank you for the compliment. That means a lot to me. <3 I love yours too and I can't wait to see even more!
creative limbo- Looks like you may have things sorted for this pet (profile's looking very slick) but if need to manually remove a solid colour background from an image the 'colour to alpha' function in GIMP (free program) is great when combined with selections. I use Photoshop CS6 for the vast majority of my overlay editing but keep GIMP installed purely for that feature.
If you're willing take the time to manually select the main body of the pet and play with the settings a bit you can even make effects on pets transparent, like this Darkmatter pet I tested it with ages ago -
