Hi everyone, I'm a newbie here, and I noticed that there are no animals in the pound. Do the majority of trades happen on forums or between users? Even though I'm new, I would really love an older pet with a different birthday. I've made 4 pets and have plans for many more but it would be nice to have birthdays that aren't all in the same week . xD

There are sometimes pets in the pound, but there are so few in there at a time, you have to be quick. Occasionally there are several when someone comes to dump all their pets and start over/quit or when a site event triggers it. For example, last year when we switched to non-unique names there were tons of pets in the pound.

Me, I just keep the pound tab open on my browser and check it every once in a while.

If you would like a pet with a specific birthday, I would recommend posting to this thread: Looking for a Specific Birthday? People often look there to help each other out. You can also make a post about what you're looking for, and if someone has it they will let you know.

Besides that, I would just keep an eye out for UFA threads. Pay careful attention to the first post so that you understand what the person adopting out wants, but in general don't be afraid to throw your hat in the ring for a pet you like!

Also, btw, what are you looking for? I have some pets I'm slowly working through but will eventually let go.

The birthdays aren't crucial but I did throw some options out there in the odd chance that someone has what I'd like!

I have some experience adopting pets on Neopets since I just got back into that site after about a decade away. Definitely watching for new UFA threads just in case I find something worth trying for. :)

I've got some goals for the pets I currently have, mostly potions due to having names in mind. Novaxyn will be harvest, Nefaris will be dark matter, Pixys will be experiment 104 (hopefully!). I am looking for a galactic Kora though, don't have a name in mind but love the pet. Same for a Spectrum Wyllop and a Chibi Torrey. If I found a Glade Montre with a name I'd really love, I'd like to adopt as well.

Well I don't have a galactic kora or chibi torrey, but those are relatively easy and cheap to make. Glade montre is more difficult, but I don't have one of those either. I do have a spectrum wyllop though! If you don't mind waiting a while, I can hold her for you.

The biggest difference between Neopets and here is that trading isn't allowed here. You can adopt pets, but you can't exchange one for another. Also, the UC equivalent here would be ID numbers (and more recently legacy names), since those cannot be changed.

Yeah after doing some research it seems like the Glade will be the most expensive, however I am making good progress and I haven't even been here for a week yet! I do love this site and it feels very reasonable to accomplish your goals, rather than grinding away soooo slowly like some other sites can do.

Good to know about the trading, I am actually fine with that. I would love a UC pet on Neo but the forums can be so cliquey and particular. It's really hard to get into that scene. I would be honored if you held the spectrum Wyllop for me! I did some snooping, is it Once? Very precious pet, and great birthday too!

I'd keep an eye out for the Ornate Floral Pitcher being stocked in the Token Shop - it's what you use to create a glade pet (after filling it at Peka Glade). Also, if you haven't started yet, you might want to the Wizard quests so you can stock up on tokens!

Yep, Once! I'm glad you like her. I've already reserved her for you. There's six pets ahead but I'm making good headway and hope to have a chunk of them done before they fix the friends page (it's necessary to be friends with someone to transfer a pet. You can pound transfer, but that's risky.).

(BTW, it takes me longer to adopt out pets because I spent a lot of time and sP training them, so I want to take advantage of that and battle them against as many easy and medium challengers as I can to get loot. It's not something people typically do. On the plus side, it means that the people who adopt my pets have a head start on the training. Once is already Tier 4.)

Just a heads up that the friends glitch is fixed and pet transfers are available again.

For sure trades are not a thing and can get you in trouble. Practically all colors are obtainable. For experiment pets aside from zapping which for experiments is 400k and 15 tokens for a guaranteed experimental zap, you have the option of using experimental dews which turn your pet into a random experiment too.

Definitely save up tokens to try to snag an ornate pitcher or sometimes people are willing to take an overpayment in tokens for one.

Yes I've definitely been keeping an eye out for that pitcher!!! I have also been questing every day and racking up a decent amount of wizard tokens. I'm glad the friends page is fixed because I've already met several people I'd like to add here. I actually haven't checked out any of the battling/training aspects yet, so I'm excited that Once will be a little bit ahead of the curve! I am thrilled that you'd let me adopt her, I didn't have a name picked out yet for a spectrum Wyllop and honestly I think her name is so cute. Makes me think of "Once upon a time...." I'm super excited ^^

I'm glad to know about the trading, it's such a big part of Neopets but honestly I'm glad it's not a thing here. It can be very frustrating and difficult. Feels more personal and realistic to just adopt. I also love how any color feels very obtainable, some sites it can feel just so out of reach.

You're very welcome. I actually picked her up from the pound a few years back when I was part of an adopting out group, and just held on to her in case I could find someone who really wanted her.

Not every experiment has a Chibi version, but quite a few of them do. You can find a list of all colors and species on the create a pet page.

I have a chibi experiement of what Barom is already myself lol. I totally respect that; if you don't totally love the name, I'll just keep on looking until I find someone who does :D Since legacy names and ID numbers are the only thing about a pet that can't be changed, I consider them to be the most important things to consider when adopting. Maybe I should go ahead and zap Barom until he becomes something rarer...
