Hey, I’m a semi-irregular user here, and recently came back and discovered the new Rift and related pets. I sent my pet “Illogical” into The Rift and when given the message of my pet being lost there, I assumed this meant they were gone for good.

I naturally went and recreated a pet with the same name “Illogical” to replace my lost friend. This morning I was greeted with the return of my original pet, and I now have 2 pets with identical names.

I can’t find any related forum posts, but because I don’t play regularly, I am unsure if this has been addressed or not already.

Are you saying that the bug is that there are two pets with the same name? If you don't play regularly then you may not be aware that pet names are no longer unique. Here is a link to the announcement post last year.

Ahh okay interesting. I didn’t know about this. Does this pertain to a single user creating multiple pets with the same name as well though?

I don't know. Pets onsite all have different ID numbers so most links would work if a single user had two pets with the same name (and neither of them was a legacy pet). The only time I could see it being an issue is if one user had two pets with the same name and neither had legacy names and you tried to link to them with the casual link (pet name instead of pet id).

I don't think the site is going to stop you from making as many pets as you want with the same name. It could mess up a few links but they'd still have unique ID numbers.

Maybe staff can clarify.

Since this is not a bug, I am going to go ahead and lock it up. If you have a question for staff feel free to file a ticket. :) The Pet forums might also have some helpful information.
