Ohey. Im trying to draw and planning to commission a Darkonite plush in that flat cute beanie-style patterned plush I see on etsy a lot that's really popular. I'm wondering if Darkonite may not translate well to plush and if my drawing/planning sketch could be cuter though? I'm trying to keep it pretty simple and cute, Here it is: https://i.imgur.com/Ca4wLH0.png

Idk I'd just like some feedback. :< I also drew it with dot eyes here but I can see how they aren't as interesting as the full pupil ones: https://i.imgur.com/pgYQndO.png

The detail you want for your eyes will depend on if you want the eyes embroidered (full flexibility in how the eyes look, in which case I would do the pupil ones) or to stick out using craft eyes, in which case they will likely be fully round and not the shape you've drawn them in. Craft eyes/safety eyes come in many types, but the ones most commonly used for small plushes are round black.

Otherwise, the design looks good to me. Is the black on the side view where you envision the seam, or a part of the design? If it's part of the design, leave it. If it's the seam, remove it (as that's likely not where the seam would actually get placed and could be confusing to the sewer). The only piece that would be tricky for me, personally, is the hair fluff. However, it's certainly do-able.

Did you want the face flat like that, or did you envision it popping out more at the nose? If the latter, I would redraw to show it, or describe that clearly to the sewer.

(Also, you may lose some of the rounding in the back thighs when it's actually sewn, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with the end result if the sewer has to streamline that.)

The face will be embroidered. I'm just bothered with it because it doesn't look cute enough to me. Even with dot eyes Im still not feeling it. : The black parts are his little goat feets, they are part of the design, just black feet, not super detailed. The face was planned on being flat. I figured something, especially with a plush pattern like this, would look cute. I tried making the spikes smaller: https://i.imgur.com/pK9R9d0.png I was trying to copy the animal body of a plush design the person I was going to commission already made, asdfgjkl; forgive my drawing skills. x_x;; I'm still not crazy about it at all? Like this plush would need to abandon this pattern entirely. Im strongly starting to think it needs a snout and full rounded head. Like impmon with a snout. That's sorta what darkonites are. Love them but this wasn't easy to visualize. xD; The tuff of hair is gonna be felt not floof, would look pretty cool if it was tho.

As to the black, I meant in particular the black line going around the side in the side-view. Not the black feet. :) I was wondering if that was a detail choice or your envisioned seam (I don't believe that's where the seam would likely be, so it's important for the sewer to know if the line needs to be embroidered on).

I would definitely keep the full pupil eyes instead of the round ones if they'll be embroidered. I feel like the charm of a darkonite is the fact that they are cute mixed with a dark edge. Personally, I like the dark edge to them, so I think you've done a nice job. My personal preference would likely include a snout, but if the idea was to have it flat, then that works as well (and makes things easier for the sewer -- not that a snout should make things too much more difficult, but it's a very different pattern).

Is the whole plush being done in felt, or just the hair floof? If felt, is it wool felt do you know?

Since the face was bugging me I tried redrawing it cuterer. I think its getting there, but maybe loses the charm as a cool goth cat, : https://i.imgur.com/32lmywF.png Of course a more detailed plush would cost $$$$$ more. I guess this is probably what you get if your just looking for something simple and cute. This can be kind of a turn off for a darkonite plush I feel like. ;-;

OH asasdafgjhkl; thats the seam. Its not an important detail I just assumed that's where it was and to help make the drawing look more 3D. Its gonna be made with minky and an embroided by machine face.

-Winks : Just make sure to clarify to the sewer that it's not a seam so that they don't stitch it in then! (Or remove from your drawing.)

The version of simple eyes with pupils still retain the darkonite edge while sweetening him up!

-Winks : Yeah, the right one. xD I think it looks great, but it's your plush... so keep working on it if you're not feeling it!
