This might be obvious, but when I first joined years ago I didn't put effort into finding avatar clothing so I'm a bit at a loss now that I've returned. I understand many items are likely obtained through unique events, but for collecting in general what's the usual way to seek and acquire new items?

Edit: Oops! I just found the general clothing shops. But if there's any other advice on obtaining clothing/backgrounds/accessories in addition to these, I'd appreciate it. :)

You can use the wardrobe itself to view all items on site (and filter official vs CWs) and make outfits with them. This can help give you an idea of what is available on the site.

The fansite/database Subeta Lodge let's you make a checklist of wardrobe items that you can sort by shop, price, rarity, etc. You can also search items you find in the wardrobe on this sire to find out where they come from.

A lot of clothing come from holiday currency shops, if you are looking to just add bulk to your wardrobe. The next upcoming holiday is Neugarten next month, and there will be some wardrobe items available for purchase with sP. Doing daily quests will also help you obtain wearables that currently restock in main shops! I like to "quickstock" to my wardrobe before my shop to make sure I don't miss any.

if you have access to Omen Islands, the Ocean's Depth Vending Machine spits out lots and lots of clothing and it has a much higher rarity limit than the rest of the machines. It will mostly be main shops fodder, but its generally a good start.

Also don't get discouraged about your item count. The counter for it is busted currently so keep collecting if you're aiming for the top tier of filled wardrobe
