I've been looking at the Commissions forum a lot lately and with so many posts, it would be easier to sort which posts are artists seeking work vs. people seeking to commission an artist.

I'm sorry but I'll have to disagree with you on this. There may seem like a lot of posts, but the CW commissions forum moves really slow. Only the top 5 threads have replies that are from this month. And the ones at the bottom of page 1 hadn't had new posts since last year.

Giving a quick skim of the forum I think it's quite clear which ones are commissioners vs artists since people seeking would usually start their topics with 'looking for' or 'L/F' while artists typically have shop names.

Besides, our regular art commissions forums aren't separated either.

I just don't really think we need to separate an already very slow moving forum so that both become even slower

In the current forum format, I don't think it needs to be separated. Like mentioned, few posts in that forum are recent and so separating it would just make more, slower, forums.
