Ey! So I just recently started binging this series, and oh boy, I'm remembering just how good it was! Does anyone else remember this series? I think my favorite characters are Toph and Zuko. What's yours? Oh, and if you lived in the Avatar universe and could choose which element what would it be? My first choice would be water.
I loooove Avatar. I've watched it a few times! I definitely have a crush on Zuko later on in the series. I think my favourite character is Sokka though! He's so funny.
I think my element would be water as well! I think it would be so cool to be able to heal people.
Love this show! Watched it all the way through for the first time ever a few months ago, with the bf. ❤️ I'm thinking my element would be Water or Earth.
This is show is a masterpiece imo. Over the years I've seen video essays and details pointed out that have deepened my appreciation for it.
Nervous about the Netflix adaptation. Not quite optimistic but not pessimistic either. I'm open-minded.
I'm with you, Ellyrium. The show is a masterpiece. Watching video essays on it definitely deepens the appreciation for it. The rewatchability of the show is off the charts. Hopefully Netflix does good things. Hopefully they treat the universe better than Nickelodeon did to Korra (which, if you ask me, was not nearly as perfect of a show as TLA...but still incredible and deserved better than being jerked around by the network).
I think my element would be earth.
Netflix doesn't need to do it exactly like the show for it to be good, which is I think what some fans want. But then you get pretty much what Disney has been doing with their live-action remakes. Nothing new gets added, nothing gets developed further, we don't get any new insights into the characters or the world, and so it's very much a question of 'what's the point?'
I'm hoping they get to minimize or remove the filler episodes (except a few of those developed Sokka's character so I hope they find other ways to do that) and spend more time on certain relationships or arcs - e.g. Sokka and Yue's relationship, Aang dealing with the loss of his entire people, etc.
I hope Netflix doesn't mess it up by being too hands-on, too, or messing with the creators like what happened with Korra. I definitely also hope that they don't do what they tried with Winx and make it 'dark and edgy' for the mature viewers. It can be a little more mature in tone and I'd be fine with that but the cartoon had a good balance.
I would probably be water
