So, I am a manager in Arbys, for those that might not know what that is, it's a friggin roast beef fast food chain. Long story short here, there is a manager there that is one rank above me, and he has caused more than just a little discourse on the shift that we both work. Upon his arrival, he had stirred a bit of drama with another female manager to the point that she quit. I did not fully understand what was going on with the situation at the time. Then we hire an 18 year old crew member, who said manager fooled around with in the parking lot, told he loved her then two days later broke up with her. Guess what...she also quit. Now, we have promoted a young 20 year old mother, who breaks up with the father of her child, moves out and then starts dating said manager that has already messed with two other women in the store. This has also caused problems, because the rest of the crew knows about everything and they are pissed. Rightfully so, one of my other employees, the girl this guy messed with in the parking lot? It was his sister, but when he went to the higher ups, he was not heard or listened to because our boss has hang ups against people who are transgender.
I have tried to be the leader I am supposed to be. I reported everything to the people above me, instead of the situation being dealt with....I have been moved, reprimanded and told that I am not being punished, but at the same time told that everything is my fault. When I first got here, the store was under different management, me and one other employee carried the shift on our backs, just the two of us and one manager. That is how I ended up being promoted in the first place, I get in trouble for being too nice to the crew because they come to me with their issues and complaints, but how can I not when I was a crew member not that long ago? Isn't a leader supposed to listen and make a decision that is based upon what is best for everyone? Or am I just crazy?
The motto at Arbys is, we have the meats.
I am here to tell you, if you are a woman, do not work at arbys. You ARE the meat.

He sounds like such a tool! The upper management sounds awful, too. Do you feel like you would be happy at your job if he wasn't there? i know it might feel like hes winning if you look for a different job, but they don't respect you or any of their employees. I'm sorry you have to deal with that daily stress hugs

oh my god that's disgusting... I really don't understand how a manager can get away with messing around with their employees like that. 🤢 people that look the other way should be held just as accountable as the person doing the horrible thing. screw that place. on one hand it's great that you provide support to the crew members, but for your sake I think leaving that place would possibly be for the best. I don't know your living situation though so that's just my angry suggestion lol.
I have thought about leaving several times and the people I stood up for no longer work there. Thing is they pay me a lot more than most fast food chains pay their employees. I have tried reporting this to upper management even. I have moved up the chain of command, trying against all odds to find someone willing to listen and do something about it. I was moved to another shift, because my General manager thought I would be happier there, cause I would away from the problems. Which I am...but every time I go to leave and they walk in the door to switch shifts, my stomach literally feels sick.
I am currently trying to figure out what to do about my situation. Honestly, if I could work from home that is exactly what I would do. I am tired of this...I am tired of fast food in general. I hate to say it, but I have been in this business for ten years. It's the same in almost all of them. If you pay close enough attention the next time your in a McDonalds or a Burger King, look at how the males in the kitchen treat the females. Just kind of casually watch, you will see exactly what I am talking about.
It's funny how they have been saying for years a kitchen is a woman's place, but when we actually start working kitchen jobs and running the place, that attitude changes. No matter what females seem to be victimized and spoken over. No matter race or age. I am just over it in general.
