BOY i think it would be sp awesome if we could use some of the items ...the animated ones on our HA.. .I also wish we could go into our friends wardrobe and mess with each other dressing each one another and commenting accordingly..i would so love the intercton of that wardrobe AND the animated involvment with HAs

Absolutely not to going into other people's wardrobes. If you want to suggest something someone should wear, make it in your own wardrobe and comment or post the outfit code. The person can then open it in their own wardrobe and play around if they want. Could even make a contest/HA thread with this theme - that might be fun.

Regarding the animated items...its a somewhat interesting concept and I can certainly see it being fun to play around with. However, I think it would get tiresome and overly distracting really fast.

I am using browser extensions to shut this kind of thing down. I will never see it so it won't affect me directly. It might interfere with the function of the site, and that would bother me.

Does animation take up more room for Subeta to store? Are we talking about a few CW stuff or a major introduction of official site stuff?

There were some masks during Masq a few years ago I thought would be wonderful to be animated. Layering may make it look funny, but some of our wears look funny being layered already!

A lot of things depend on size of the image and the file.

i remember keith mentioning being interested in the idea of animated wearables several years ago, and i agree it could be cool (blinking eyes, glowing lights, wagging tails, etc)... but i think it would be a long time before something like that would be feasible. the new wardrobe is still in development, and there would be a lot of logistics to figure out.

would the item overlays be gifs? would that even work, since wearables & HAs are png-based? animated pngs do exist, but their implementation is limited and they're not supported by all browsers. would it put more strain on the servers? would there be potential accessibility issues if suddenly half the HAs on the site had some kind of animated component? would it be possible to let people toggle whether or not they want to see animated HAs?

etc etc. lots to consider, lots of aspects of the site that still need attention, and not a whole lot of resources at staff's disposal.

I don't know anything about the code behind the wardrobe, so I don't know if it can even support things like animated items and multiple users working on the same HA. My guess would be no. But even if it could, I don't think the Subeta servers could handle it. They frequently have enough trouble loading the wardrobe and the forums (where HAs most frequently appear) without animated items on HAs. (Not meant as a diss, btw - I'm just relating my experience.)

Animated wearables are a cool idea, I just wouldn't expect it to be in the realm of possibility anytime soon. Maybe not at all. :c

The friends in wardrobe thing...I mean, that could potentially be fun too, but...maybe it's because I've seen friends turn on each other in the past, and I will admit up front that I have major trust issues which would make me biased against an idea like this to begin with. But I can't help but think it could also go horribly wrong, to the point where it wouldn't be worth the trouble.

Suppose you and your Subeta friend get into an argument or something...unless you can change the permissions in your wardrobe or unfriend them quickly, then you've got a whole avenue for them (and any mutual friends they can recruit) to bully you by leaving nasty comments and/or messing up things in your wardrobe. So to prevent that, there would probably have to be a whole system set up where you would have to approve friends, then also approve what they could and couldn't do, what items they have access to (which would be really messy since there's thousands of items in any given wardrobe), and so on... and really, why do all that when Lypsyl's suggestion works much better?

Again, I hate to be a downer because the ideas themselves are fun, but I just can't see them working out on this site at all, at least not as it currently stands.

No support. I don't see editing other users HA's going over well at all. The animation aspect reminds me of another site with constant sparkle/wiggle/etc. animations and it got irritating pretty quickly.

That, and the wardrobe has been recoded multiple times without once being completed including now. I really don't want to see a 4637th rendition of the wardrobe whilst anything pet related is pushed even further back as far as content goes.

As for animated wearables, it's cool in concept, but I've played another site that does that and they're all restricted to the top or bottom layer due to technical limitations, making many of them nearly impossible to use effectively
