I've seen them scurrying about but as for the item event itself, yeah I've not seen it in a while.
I just got the event
You notice a Dusk Archan Beanbag on the ground, but right when you bend down to pick it up, lizard minions come out of nowhere and scurry off with it!
Your trap springs and you spray like mad as the lizard minions escape. They will not get away this time! You place Dusk Archan Beanbag into your inventory.
This RE was recently fixed so that is why you hadn't seen them in a while.

I got one day - it had been a while. Random Event You notice a Blade of Sacrifice on the ground, but right when you bend down to pick it up, lizard minions come out of nowhere and scurry off with it!
Your trap springs and you spray like mad as the lizard minions escape. They will not get away this time! You place Blade of Sacrifice into your inventory.
