Comments/smail still get eaten when using windows emojis

My comments and smail are still being eaten if I try to use a windows emoji (like 🤔) I can use them in forum posts fine though I've been able to use them in the past but now recently if I use one it'll eat the entire comment or smail

Oh no! I've deployed a quick patch to make it stop eating those sMails ASAP. So now they will send, but the special characters will turn into question marks.
I'll leave this open - I'll try to find time to do a proper fix to support those (instead of making them question marks), but the sMail code is very old and I'm not sure if it will be possible in this case. I know we've been wanting to just rewrite it all for a while. In any case thanks for letting us know!
