The one type of item I seriously collect are books for

I was working on Daniel's library when I realized, I don't really have a system for getting books for him, lol. The most strategic thing I do involves gathering special currencies and buying the books first to make sure I get them as quickly as possible. At the end of the season, I also snatch up any seasonal books I've missed, and if I don't have enough QP, I buy the books per point from users who are selling them.

What do you do to build your collections on-site? Do you work through them strategically and try and plan when to purchase something? Do you prefer to get expensive items first, or buy more, cheaper items? I'm just curious to hear what other people do, since collecting is such a big part of the site. :)

Personally I go for cheaper items first and work towards more expensive ones, because you never know if we get a cheaper re-release opportunity, or if you can find one at a discounted price from someone who is quickselling :)

I try to keep on top of all the event shops, but Quest Points are hard for me to stay on top of, as I read to multiple pets :'(
