When you go about changing a pet, how do you go about it? Do you go straight for dreamies or do you try to go with what’s natural? Just curious, not sure if I should keep Hairpin and Box the species they are right now haha.

Some of my pets have not been changed much since being adopted/created.

My oldest, Ahkoum and Khali Makita have the fewest. Ahkoum was Common, then Storm, and restored to Common. Also renamed three times, all with the common denominator "Ahkoum". Khali was Common, then Twilight, and then Sun.

Prisms, SereneAmethyst, Fish Bulb, et al... underrwent very few if any changes. Captura may be my only unchanged adoption, a Blood Red Escalade.

My ultimate goal with my pets is to have as few Common pets as possible. Ahkoum is to be the only Common pet, and Madge the only Common Experiment. If I can understand the process for a Custom pet, I would want Nolo Sera. I've been mad with potions, elixirs, and the zapper. At some point I'm going to stop adopting or creating, then I'll work with my flock more concretely.

Old, and obsolete.

I typically will go straight for my dreamies, but in some cases, I try to "match" the color/species combo to the name. For example, Blush is my Sweetheart Bhakoru; I just think the pink color plus the super girly design/accessories really add into the name. Madhouse is another good example, he's a Bloodred Telenine and his whole story revolves around being a "mad dog". So, sometimes it's fun to find color and specie combos that match the names you have, but it's also SUPER fun to just make a mad dash for your dreamie if you have the ability to. :)

I used to have a policy that I'd only color a new pet a color and species I didn't already have. I don't really do that as much anymore just due to running out of unique colors, but I still keep to the mostl no same species for all my pets policy though. I do have pets that are specific to their name, Aphrodite being sweetheart, for instance, Baccus being glade, but those were pets that color wise were converted a long, long time ago though.

Also, , I think this needs to be moved to subeta pets?

' Depends on the pet. Sometimes I choose the color and species before the character. Other times I'll choose the color and species based on the character.

For example,

I thought the storm blob was so cute so I created

Mayweather around a storm blob character.

Blob Loblaw I made as an arrested development pun. I am not a fan of the dusk blobs, I think there are other fun recolors that are nicer, but that one looks the best cropped onto Bob's body xD

Then there is

Albert Whisker who was originally a reborn archan. I liked the reborn archans initially but didn't like the revamp. I thought the revamped reborn tigrean was more fitting of his character and liked the appearance a lot more so I changed him.

Personally mostly aiming for dream pets. I try to fit them onto my charas tho. Never realy a 100% match but what are overlays for if it bothers too much. =3

But still zapping first before going about changing a pet into final. Sometimes that give the problem i end up with a different pet not fitting the name/chara originally. Now with names changeable not as problematic anymore. XD

If I have a fan-character however its more... set. Eddie is only cream Tigrean since it fit his person describtion well. ^^ I don't dislike it too much...

The foundation is the name for me, once I have a name, I look through subetalodge’s list of color/species to find which one suits the name best but also is a satisfying color/species to me, personally. So a combination of working with the name and me liking the color/species to choose it

i pick colour/species based on the character idea! and since all my characters are human like, it just kinda boils down to what pet matches their aesthetic asdfghjkl

I just go for what fits a pet. Most of my pets are humanoids (not necessarily humans, though) so I try to pick a species-color combo that fits them-- for example my leashed pet. Susanna's a Sweetheart Endeavor because her character is a charming, smart-talking secretary with a ton of technical and robotic expertise (the Endeavor part), and the Sweetheart Endeavor's mischievous personality fits her perfectly. She also likes sweets so that helps too!

Sometimes I'll find things that fit a pet better. Patchouli was a Glacier Demi for awhile until I realized the Glacier Mahar fit her attitude and magical powers more closely! (Then I turned an entirely different pet into a Glacier Demi and it fits them great.)

That being said, I almost never make pets into things because I really like that thing. It's always based on who or what they are. Of course, I don't make them into things that I don't like, either!
