1 month from scratch challenge, results are in!

Hey y’all, so I decided to explore Subeta’s ‘free’ sP making methods and try to make as much as possible in 1 month.
The challenge started March 5th and ended April 5th. I learned a lot, and instead of making a bunch of long paragraphs I’ll just add spoilers with some of the details and answer any questions.

So the curiosity stemmed from the “what is actually possible without spending real money?” question nearly every game has to answer now a days. There’s nothing inherently wrong with currency/items/boosts/etc obtained through real world funds (games need to generate an income somehow) I think what turns a lot of people off is when the advantage gained from this is so overwhelmingly large, competing in the game is impossible otherwise.

I felt like in order to make this a true ‘from scratch’ challenge there needed to be restrictions set in place.
These are the rules I followed:Money making methods
There were some things I did consistently that added up QUICK. I’m not going to deeply explain every bullet point, just list what I did and if there are any follow on questions I’ll gladly elaborate.

Final thoughts
This seems like a lot of sP for a month and it is! but it is not sustainable. Seriously. I spent so much time restocking, questing, playing different games when the timer was up, manually pricing. It kind of took the fun out of Subeta, you never want a game to become work.
It was a fun experience to see what’s possible but I wouldn’t recommend people to play this way. Do your daily quests because it’s fast, you earn quest points, and the possibly of morty cards. Plus you stimulate the Subetab economy. Doing that alone will make you plenty of money.
Additionally, BUY CSC! I know you’re probably thinking “wtf man this is supposed to be a free challenge”. I get it. But if you make $50/hour instead of spending 100+ hours/month doing different money making methods, you can work for 2 hours, and end up with the same amount of sP and 98+ hours to spare.
Expanding on that, Subeta is a small community. It doesn’t generate the amount of money 100,000+ player based games do. Supporting the site with your dollars shows your appreciation for the game and supports the creators, and staff. They’ve done a fantastic job making CSC rewarding but not game breaking. It’s truly something to be applauded.
What’s next?
I’m going to take a small break then I want to open the challenge to everyone! Stay tuned for a contest following my same parameters. Each participant will get 100 csc for joining the contest, and the winners (yes multiple), will get much larger prizes. Expect this to run from May 1-June1

What does merching mean and how did you earn from forum posts?
I'd be interested in joining a month long contest but I won't expect to make the same amount you did.

The conclusions mesh well with what I've felt about this site all along. Its great to have that confirmed. I've always felt that there are many paths to "success" here, and there are also many ways to define "success."

Thanks for sharing the results! I'm definitely interested in trying the challenge myself, though I think not spending during the challenge period will be tough (especially during Vesnali).
Out of curiosity - did you sell everything "as-is"? Meaning, did you frag and sell crystals or did you try to buy items from crystal shop and sell those? I assume you did a bit of converting since carnival games cost wizard tokens and you said you played those (rather than just sell the tokens outright).
I was wondering if this was a group thing like the billionaire SP sprint when I saw you post about it on the forums. Thank you for posting your experience! I am very interested in seeing how it turns out with a group ^-^

Did you do 15 quests a day, or just 10? If it was 'free' you'd have to assume no GA, and therefore only 10 of each quest. 15 quests a day is a 50% increase on rewards, pretty significant.
If you were to run this as a challenge, would you consider battling with a completely untrained newly adopted pet using only weapons obtained through questing/RSing as an extra means of generating income? I've always been curious to see how high you could level up a pet from scratch in a short amount of time these days.

I did 15 quests. I meant ‘free’ as in not purchasing csc. I think GAs are pretty easy to come by now with the buddy GA system.

- That is true, buddy GAs make it pretty easy... but someone still had to pay RL $$ for it. Though, I still have a bunch of 1wk medals that I got for free at some point, so it's still possible to have a free GA.
Neat. You can make some pretty decent sets off of only opponent loot drops. most of my weapons are loot drops cus I'm cheap too.

I enjoyed this read, also that is crazy like that's how much pure I probably made in a decade of playing LOL.
Never tried RSing for $$, other than buying up quest items I find that are in NPC shops for a lot below shop prices. What do you think was the rough sP breakdown by each thing? Like, was RSing half of what you made? More?
I know this is kind of old now, but as a new user this is super interesting! Where did you find it most profitable to restock? Did you vend at all?
Yeah sorry y’all I kind of took a long break after I did this and am just getting back.
RSing was definitely a huge portion. I can’t say exactly how much but I would gauge between 33%-50% of my profits
The most profitable places for me were places that aren’t super popular because there wasn’t a ton of competition grabbing higher end items. Icy goods Beach shack Minions market Weapons warehouse
There’s also shops that essentially guarantee profit. Anything you can restock for under 2k will give you profit. Spells galore Lost skeleton Rathskeller inn
And I did not vend, I just sold the tokens. I’m actually working on a “is vending worth it” trial right now.
