I will lock this if you really want, but don't give up ! I know a lot of artists are taking time off/focusing on things that will take a bit less time and focus right now (like me, while I love doing CWs I am in the middle of moving and focusing on offsite stuff). I know Ghibli stuff is beloved here, it's most likely just a bit of bad timing.

I guess I can give it a bit longer, but tbh this is the 4th try with no luck lol

Can you give a few more details? Unfortunately there are only a couple of active CW artists that are willing to do backgrounds right now, so pickings are slim. I am one of them, but my commissions aren't open right now. But I'm curious about what you want (I love studio Ghibli!) and what kind of budget you're thinking about.

something to do with castle n the sky, but not sure how the changes would work with the 'area' I want to do. Im not sure on budget since Im not too sure what area of the categories(ie is it considered, I couldnt seem to find listed on any threads I looked) I think most had lrg items around 4k csc?

That's cool! I haven't seen any tributes to that particular movie before on subeta. :) Generally you would show the artist image references from the movie or whatever, and between the two of you, you can work out the changes. It can be tricky to walk the line between recognizable, but not TOO recognizable, but with something like a BG I think it's easier than, say, making a tribute of a character's costume since there are lots of elements in a BG that can be tweaked without making them too different. I hope that make sense!

I think your budget is pretty good, depending the artist. I personally charge no less than $50 USD/7k CSC for a BG because they take ages to make, so you've estimated really well! Like I said, I'm not currently open for commissions, but if you are interested in working with me in the future, you can join my cw group, which I always ping first when opening commissions.
