Yeah, I'm not sure why they decided to make the flavor text kind of scary, but theres no secondary effect to the berry, all it does is fill your pet to max hunger.

I think there's been a suggestion at some point to change the description, because it is a bit misleading.

Nothing will happen to your pet after you feed it. I think it just maxes out hunger

I own one of these and alas nothing mutates, despite tons of feeding. :) Subeta's items used to have much more snarky and/or dire item descriptions than they do now, and this one is a relict of ancient days.

There are some other things to also keep in mind. It fills your pet to 10 but doesn't stop the Subeta's hunger mechanism. A pet can get down to a Hunger of 0 in about nine hours. The Infinity Berry will work even if the game mechanism for hunger breaks, which it seems to do at least once a year. The Rathskeller Inn and the Veta Lake Resort are cheaper even over the course of years, and the Resort allows you to check all of your pets in at once if you have a Gold Account.

Me, I like and find useful my Inifinity Berry and didn't mind the initial cost. Many other users do not. It's just sP. shrug
