Just as the title says I don't have a birthday icon appearing

Before anyone says you must not have the setting turned on, no it's been on before today and I haven't touched the setting

Though since there is no way to see the date that is set I can't be 100% sure I didn't put the date in incorrectly but I am at least 90% confident I did set it correctly though.

PS: there should be a way to view your birthday date that you put in and change it if you made a mistake before (if there is concern of it being abused, restrict the change one rule only change it once a year)

Did you have a working birthday icon in previous years? This feature was also broken for me the first few years after I joined, and I had to make a ticket asking for it to be reset and it's worked for me since. You will likely also have to make a ticket.
