Hi! Okay, so skins are broken down by types, Zombie strains, Zappers, and occasionally by site achievement.

Since 2009, if I remember correctly, we have had the Zombie strains which you get during the annual Survival holiday(around middle-ish February) by paying for one of the associated viruses and after receiving the notification that you are at the opening stage(or otherwise available to infect), you can go to the Survival subforum to be "bitten" by users wearing the fully matured Zombie skin of your choice to speed up your own rate of infection.

Your can use the Ultimate Pet Zapper during the Morostide holiday(Octoberish) to unlock these skins.

The Flameo skin I believe is unlocked by being burned by the Rreign during the fall season holiday(the name escapes me but it takes place before Morostide). There are some others I believe but I cannot recall how to unlock them.
