I haven't been on here in basically a decade. I looked at my pets and, come to find out, their names are "disallowed." What happens if I leave them like that? Are they worth anything? And is this site anything like Neopets, in that each name is unique? So...if I changed them, would it have to be something stupid like "Sirrush_1234"?

While we're here, just a quick check...cross site trading is not ok here, right?

The site used to have unique names like neopets, but in the second half of 2020 it was updated to have non-unique names. In the old days, the site used to allow crazy characters like ~ and ! in usernames and petnames, but now those things are not allowed due to coding issues and/or security issues (I think). You can change your pet Sirrush to just Sirrush now, or any name if you desire.

Welcome back! I think the disallowed refers to the ~ in the name. Luckily for you, now you can rename your pets to whatever you want and for free. This feature was released last year. I think you can do 1 rename per pet per week? or per month? i am not sure. This means you can remove the ~ in the name. This also means there can be more pets with the same name, same spelling.

Because of this feature, now pets that got named before the change, like yours, will display on their profiles' "Legacy name: {whatever name they had}". Lately, pets with low IDs, usually under 1 million, and those with nice legacy names are sought after.

As far as what happens if you have such disallowed names, i don't know unfortunately.

Is it still free for me at this time if I don't have a gold account? From what I read in the news announcement, it looks like you have to have a gold account (which I'm guessing is upgraded, ie costs money)

Oh, if it causes problems for the admins or with security then I should/will definitely change it. If not...I'm reluctant to change them in case they end up being valuable later.

P.S. I do not think disallowed names are valuable (in and of themselves) anymore. They used to be a nice find because they allowed for free name changes in the old system, but now that all name changes are free, it doesn't really matter. I think most people (at least from what I see in the adoption forum) prefer not to adopt a pet with characters in their name.

Also, though you do not need a gold account to change your pets' names, you may be interested in knowing that has changed a lot lately too. You can still use the gold account medals (and the 1 week ones are pretty cheap in sP, at least the last time I checked), but you also now have the option of subscribing. Sorry, i can't answer that question :( I really don't know. I think i only renamed 1 pet after the change. maybe 2. and not at the same time. I'm assuming that on the pet name change page, you'll have more information telling you if you can do it and how much it will costs.

Luckily, these days, we can buy from other users Credit Gift Cards which can usually be bought with real life money. These cards have values of 100, 250, 500, 1000. So you'd search for 100 Credit Gift Card in user shops. We refer to them as CSC shortly.

You can also search for Morty Cards. When redeemed from the inventory, you get 5 CSC while completing 5 quests. Thus, these cards you get 25 CSC in one card, so to say. Quest givers sometimes give these out, or you can buy them from other users.

All this means that you don't have to use real life currency to buy items that are generally bought with money, from the cash shop. All you need to do is to save sP through quests, vending (and selling) and restocking.

Pet trading is not allowed, so the only "value" in a pet name is what you feel it has, especially since names are no longer unique. Your pets' ID numbers are more "valuable" than the names, meaning you'd probably get a decent amount of interest and have an easy time adopting them out, but that doesn't translate into any kind of profit or benefit for you besides potential bragging rights, I guess

Oh, ok! It's been so long since I've been on subeta that I'm completely out of touch with the culture here and how this site differs from others in regard to "value" and adopting. Thank you for pointing out that pets cannot be traded.

It looks like you have already changed your pets names but anyone with a disallowed pet name was able to get their pet names changed for free by the staff by making a ticket. If you had more than one like that after the non-unique name change you could get them all done by staff without having to wait a week between pets.

Yup! That's what I did, and I just had my last pets' names changed the other day by the staff. Of course now I have better names in mind (derp that's me), but it's nice to know that I can still change them myself :)
