I've been on an unintentionally long hiatus from Subeta and am slowly getting back into it.

Long story short, I've got a pet whose name has bothered me for some time.

I love Napoleon, but I created him without having read "Animal Farm." Did you know there was a very mean pig in that book whose name was also Napoleon? I didn't.

ANYWAY, I'm looking to rename him. c:

I'm looking for a male real name with a traditional spelling. Please ping me if you have someone who'd like to be a grounded pig!

Hello there and welcome back! I'm not sure if you've heard yet, but pets no longer have unique names, so you can rename your pet to whichever name you'd like c:

If you're looking for a legacy male name (a pet's original name), then that's a different matter and I hope you find one soon!

Yup, exactly! c: If you want to name him Bob and there are already 5 "Bob"s onsite, he can still be a Bob! It's also free to change your pet's name now ^^

It's funny you mentioned "Bob", because that's a name I've wanted. I'm excited to figure out Napoleon's new name! I have no idea where to start, haha.

One more question: how does that work with searching pets? I typed in "Frank" (my Frank) and he didn't come up in the drop-down menu.

Yes! It's a fairly recent change and the thread about this is FAQ about Legacy Names/Non-Unique Pet Names (idk why I couldn't find it earlier, my brain LOL)

Honestly, I'm not too sure about the search function right now either ^^', it seems to work well for pets with more unique names (ie my pet evalyne populates just evalyne instead of evalyne*, evalyne25 etc), but if the name/word is more commonly used, I don't think the complete list of all pets with the name/word is populating right now. I think some people are asking about it here: https://subeta.net/forums.php/read/915638/Question-about-the-new-search-function, so hopefully there's an update.

Also, if you change your pets name from Napoleon to Bob (just for example), and you use the search function to try to find them, you would find him under the name Napoleon (his legacy name).
