This is my idea board for my shop (in my signature). I'll be popping off ideas to see how popular (or craptastic) they may be. Feel free to also take a look at my shop and let me know what you think! As far as ideas go, I have a lot of different skills when it comes to crafting and I love learning new things. So far I can crochet, knit, draw, paint, sculpt with sculpey, do origami and a little kirigami, make jewelry (just learned how to solder over lockdown!), and make wreaths with pinecones/etc.

-Amigurumi. I would love to make cute little crocheted critters. But I'm worried that making such tiny complicated things might be a bit beyond my skill. And mailing them out would cost more too, so that's a thought. But I'm betting they'd be popular because who doesn't love cute fuzzy critters!

-Baby blankets. I've crocheted quite a few of these, but again, shipping would cost a bit because of how I'd have to package them. I'm thinking the cost alone would be restrictive too, because I'd probably sell them for around $35 and I don't know if anyone would pay that here.

-Sculpey critters. I love making little sculpey animals and things. I have to ship them in boxes though, so they don't break in the mail. Flat rate's smallest boxes cost about $8 and I think I'd charge $5-10 based on the size and design, so total would be $13-18.

I know, I KNOW I should make an Etsy shop, but I wanted to have a shop on here first, just to see how things go and see what works before I f*** around on there. So. Ideas? Thoughts?

Just as an fyi, buying small boxes in bulk and sending them is generally cheaper in shipping most things than flat-rate boxes. At least in my experience. I mean, it depends on the exact box dimensions and the weight of what you're sending, but I've sent (approx 10" tall) plushies before and I think the shipping was somewhere between $5-7.

As an example, I did a little testing in the USPS shipping calculator and anything that weighs 10 ounces (just over half a pound) will only cost an estimated $5.75 to ship, but the flat-rate box will be $8.30.

...Just something you may want to take into consideration.

As for products, I'd love to see the little critters you make with sculpey!

I was just chatting with a friend of mine and we were talking about the possibility of finding a sweater similar to ? Could that be in your realm? I realize the cost might be a little bit.

I’ll go ahead and lock this one up since any further posts would constitute a necro since it’s past the 6 month mark.
