Hello! My name is Moonie and I just joined the site yesterday. I was a member on this site right after it opened and stayed for a rather long time, up until about 8 years ago. I'm pretty sure my old account name was taken as there is another new user with the name, so I'm here to start from scratch and make some new friends. ❤️
Anywho... I'm 29 years old, a stay at home parent, and lover of nerdy and cute things. I generally don't have time for online things, but I'm trying to carve out some time for myself and get back into having hobbies. I enjoy things like Dungeons & Dragons (3.5 only), anime, reading, nature, crafts, and baking. I'm also really into celebrating things (like Halloween or the winter solstice) so I'm happy I joined during Luminaire.
I'd love some more adults to chat with since I'm guessing a lot of users that stayed are over 20 now. Does anyone have a favorite forum on here? I've been navigating most of the site myself and have figured out pretty much everything again really quick, but this is my first time stepping back into the forum area. I'm excited to poke about and find more features and meet everyone. Feel free to send me a message if you'd like to chat!
Hello Moonie!! Glad you discovered the site again c: I only started just recently myself! Whats your favourite anime? Mine is absolutely Hunter Hunter !!
Welcome How is the forum area treating you? I'm a returning user myself but I've never really been interested in forums until now.
What character(s) do you currently play in your D&D campaign?
- Hello! :)
- My favorite anime is probably Full Moon wo Sagashite, but there are so many I like I'm not sure I should pick that. - Good so far. I haven't been able to stay on long enough to browse all of them yet. I'm currently starting up a new campaign with my spouse and am doing a homebrew character Hudeer Druid. My character before this was a Tibbit Cleric.Yeah it does take quite a bit of time to navigate all of the forums. Homebrew games are so much fun! I've only played a homebrew campaign once, and still it was the best character creation experience I've had while playing. Are you planning on playing your druid as a healer? I've never played 3.5e so I'm not familiar with the class mechanics.
- Homebrew is all we really play. We did strict basic books once and it only lasted two sessions.
Yeah my druid is going to be a healer for the most part. I'm not really sure how newer version of D&D work since we tried 4e once and that was the end of straying from 3.5e. You can play any of the druids spells on the list from PHB in 3.5e. A couple of the D20 books and magazines have additional spells, so she will have some ability to harm as well. We usually get really big into the character creation part since it's our favorite and will take 3-4 sessions (4-8 hours each) to make sure they have a complete character sheet, background, character art, and about me sheet. We even got lucky for one of our sessions and the DM at the time got us custom figures for that campaign. What kind of characters do you like to play? Do you have a favorite character at the moment? What version of D&D do you play?, welcome back! A lot of your interests match mine so I thought I'd pop in and say a proper hello! I'm Ren, I'm 31, also a stay at home parent, and love nerdy and artsy things. I'm into everything you listed except baking (I prefer cooking on stove top or just shoving roasts in the oven, hahah).
You mentioned liking nature. Do you like to visit parks/forests/bio-reserves? Do you do photography at all? Bird-watching? I like to go on trails and through forests, but in the good weather I also love searching for shells on the beach (on the one day a year I get to go to the beach, hahah). I'm a very casual bird-watcher and I like to take photos of nature, but they're not professional quality.
What do you like to read? I'm a fan of fantasy, sci-fi, tragedy, horror, and dystopian worlds, but I'll try almost anything if it's well-written and interesting. Some novels/series I've read: Silverwing (and all sequels/prequel), Lord of the Flies, The Hobbit, Watership Down, the MaddAddam trilogy, Beloved, Haydn of Mars, The Name of the Wind (and the Wise Man's Fear), the core books currently out for A Song of Ice and Fire, and Wild Magic.
What genres of anime are your favourites? I'm a fan of horror and tragedy (as well as the themes listed for genres I enjoy reading), but I'll watch most anything and have seen a lot of rom-coms, too. Some series I've watched (and/or read) include: Elfen Lied, Charlotte, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball (and DBZ), Gundam Wing, Nagi no Asu Kara, Tokyo Ghoul, The Promised Neverland, Shingeki no Kyojin, Excel Saga, Claymore, Log Horizon, and everything that Junji Ito has released. I haven't watched Full Moon wo Sagashite, but I remember reading the manga back in high school!
I haven't played a session of D&D since we moved in the summer, but we were playing a 5e campaign, though I've been playing D&D for over a decade (3.5e, 4e, and 5e). I love tiefling warlocks, but I've played a number of different races and classes. I've always loved character-building, too! I used to do text-based roleplaying online before I was introduced to D&D so it was definitely my jam. My husband loves world-building and he DMs for us so we usually play his homebrews.
That's really cool that you guys aren't bound by the text in the books. My current DM is.
I've only played 5e, so I don't have much experience playing the other editions (though my one homebrew experience was 3.5e based). I normally play support characters, my last character was a gnome bard named Bumblefoot. Currently I'm playing a half elf monk/rogue dual class named Sayyadina. I'm not used to playing either of those classes so it makes combat really fun and new for me. My favorite character though was my half elf druid named Comfort who was a 13yr old boy. Very fun to play.
I love how your party gets in to the character creation part of the game. My party, surprisingly, isn't in to roleplay much with the exception of myself and one other person. I'm the only one who gets in to the details of character creation. Our DM just got a 3D printer so for the first time I'm able to see my party-member's visions of their characters. It's really cool since I'm the only one who draws out my character. I feel like I should suggest longer character creation sessions, I think it will greatly improve our roleplay.
Do you draw your own character art? What's been your favorite character?
- Thank you so much! I believe I've been here about a week+ now and I'm loving it. I love your avatar by the way. :)
Welcome back Moonie. :3 As a fellow stay at home parent, I know the feels. xux;;;
Welcome back! Your avatar is adorable :) Personally I enjoy a coupe of the 'Chat' style threads, there is one in Battle and one in Achievements based on your interest, but also a few in Chit Chat. It's a good way to meet other people.
Don't be a stranger if you've any questions!
