Sorry if this has been suggested before, but what if the item Old Box of Ornaments would be changed to occasionally produce a random old Luminaire-rarity item?

I haven't really seen any way to get old luminaire items other than buying them from user shops, and plenty of them have become very expensive over the years.

It would also reflect the word "old" in the items title, because I'm sure I'm not the only one who can agree basement-boxed furniture and other random things sometimes tend to get lost and scrambled together, despite careful labeling- especially if you've ever moved in your lifetime.

Could make for an interesting sP sink. I know I'd be more interested in sifting through random boxes of ornaments I may not want if I knew there was a chance at a retired item.

Also, I like the lore idea that it was an item accidentally left in with the Luminaire decorations. That seems wholly plausible to me.

I'm half on board with this idea.

The OBOO is cheap though, because the site wants folks to be able to have fun decorating their tree with at least something.

Anything with a lumi gifts past percentage should be a much heavier sP sink, especially since for the OBOO you can get up to six items which means six chances.

An alternative would be to tie it to submitting scores of games like the Carnival Games give a chance of giving out old Moro items.

I was thinking that how you can only get one about every ten minutes for 2000 sp for the whole month of December was already a kind of restriction. And however slight a chance that staff set a random lumi item to appear would be doing the same.

Maybe the sp donation price could be heightened too.

The price would have to be made higher, and I'd rather have very cheap box of ornaments than a low chance at a Luminaire item.

I like the ornament boxes the way they are - I don't think they're the kind of thing that needs to be "more interesting"

I wouldn't mind this if it didn't go super expensive. I'm in agreement with in that I would rather have cheap ornaments than a low chance at an expensive one. Lore wise, I feel like Melody wouldn't make something so expensive since Lumi is the season of giving and charity. The site already has a bunch of sP sinks and everyone is throwing sP away purchasing gifts during this season.

If the retired ornaments were thrown into the box and nothing changed then sure! But I don't want to make the ornament box super expensive.

I half agree with that and thought about it too, but I don't agree with them being specifically handed out in quests. Besides the GA difference in the number of quests, there's already sort of a holiday that does that. If it was through another mechanism, sure, I would look forward to that.

You mean in user shops, or directly from Melody? I was imagining the former becoming expensive (more quickly) in direct relation to this possibly happening, though like someone else said earlier it probably would need some stronger form of limitation? I still think the fact it's only an option in December and on a ten minute timer are already-existing limitations in themselves.

Though I don't think it would make much of a difference if 2000 was changed to 3000 or 4000 either, to reflect the chance regardless of how unlikely it is set to happen.

Directly from Melody--when sP sink was mentioned I was afraid of the price of the ornament box being jacked up to like 100k+. I know that's not that much in terms of Subeta prices, but that would add up extremely quickly and if the chances are minimal, would discourage me from trying, personally. It would also take away from the point of the ornament box. If it were say, 4-5k or even 10k, I think that would still be reasonable while reintroducing these items.

I would assume if older ornaments were placed in user shops they would slowly become less expensive as more re-entered circulation, though during the other 11 months of the year they'd probably rise in price.

Perhaps we could have a slightly different box of ornaments that only produced one or two items but had a higher rate of getting retired items placed in a shop? Maybe Token Shop or Crystal Shop. Or Millionaire Center. I'm not exactly sure where the best place for something like that would be but it opens up more options that wouldn't directly be tied to Melody/lore.

That's an interesting idea- maybe a new box item like that could be interchangeably offered in the avalanche emporium. Or the hustler.

I'd be happy seeing a second box of ornaments maybe you could only get it once a day and it has a chance at older stuff. But then again I also wish there was a way to get old halloween items sayyyyy the Sponge Capsules. Cause whos paying 200k+ for those suckers??
