So I just want to say that I took a break from Subeta for about 8 months to get my life situated and finally got to the point I needed a break from the real world and decided to get back on here and noticed that in the last 24 hours there hasn't been more than 500 people on here at a time. Any ideas as to why?? It makes me sad to see this as I hope Subeta never goes away. I was looking at most users that bought stuff in my shop and I noticed that most accounts are 8+ years old. I know I started this account when I was under 20 years old and I have been a user for 13 years so maybe people are just outgrowing it but I would love to see this site keep going and I am hoping it is just a holiday weekend and people are out doing other stuff. Any ideas to calm my brain down would be wonderful. I keep wondering if we should start putting Subeta out there to attract more people. Maybe it is just a slow weekend but I feel like Subeta has given me so much and I would just love to give back because it is a place that I have made some wonderful friends and memories. If any one has any info on this topic, I would love to start a discussion.

I think it's pretty slow most of the time these days. The forums are much less active than they used to be, too. I think most people who still play spend more time working on their pets, achievements, etc. I like to wander the forums, but rarely see much new stuff popping up. And the online users seem to be low usually, too. I hope Subeta sticks around for a long time, as well! Even after all these years, it's a nice space to getaway from everything else.

This is a constant worry of mine.

In general, there's usually about 400-500 people online during the day. It can get to under 200 at night. During holidays, it usually gets up to 600-700, as we saw this Morostide, but I guess for some reason Fireside is not as popular, or people are saving their energies for Luminaire.

I watch the pound constantly, and it is pretty empty nowadays. Occasionally there is a surge of pets, but this keeps getting rarer and rarer. Less and less people are putting their pets UFA in the AC, and those that do often say they are quitting, or they ghost in the middle of adopting out pets.

However, I don't think it's yet time for DOOM and GLOOM. Some people say things like "this site is dead," and I hate that because a) it's not, and b) that's so negative, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. The site is not dead. The site is quiet, though, with occasional bouts of activity.

I will say I usually see more forum activity, and I think that can be boiled down to people enjoying their holidays.

Also, Subeta admin is currently working on making a version 2.0 of the site, so as quiet as the site is, there's definitely no plans to shut it down any time soon.

But as I said, it is a constant worry of mine - just a niggling feeling deep down that people are losing interest. I wish there was a way to attract more users, but I don't know how. I do think of it this way: as long as this site is up, and as long as I'm getting enjoyment out of it, I will continue to invest time and money when I can. It's just like any other online or mobile game that could be here one day and gone the next, so I might as well have fun while I still can.

I hope that doesn't sound too negative. I'm a realist, so I try to have a balanced view of things.

In defense of having been here long enough to see the Super User achievements come and go, this isn't unusual. It'll pick up during Lumi somewhat. Getting the Super User achievements (+1000 users online) was beastly and slowed the site something terrible.

That said, while it's noticeable, this has happened before.

I'm not too worried about it. Just always a bit sad to see another friend's account vanish into inactivity.

I hope they stick around a long time too! It's my escape from the rest of the world and I come and go but I can't ever stay away permanently. I've noticed the last week that the forums were pretty slow with certain categories being unchanged for days.

I don't think that sounds negative. I like the honesty! I feel the same way about it. I am wondering if, like me, a ton of people have just grown up and forgotten about it. I can't ever seem to let go of it though. I feel like it has always been an escape and something to focus on when things in life are just overwhelming. I have been MIA for a few months. I didn't know about a Subeta 2.0. Is that in the news posts somewhere?

I do remember one of the times when that achievement was trying to be pushed by people and it did slow things down but I remember feeling proud of the amount of people on the site. It is always sad to see people and friends leave the site because sometimes it's the only place I know them from. I know its human nature to grow up and move on but I don't know why I can't let this place go. I just find it peaceful and still enjoyable. It has a little bit of something about it that just calms me even during this crazy pandemic.

Yeah, I go away and come back myself from time to time. In fact, around this time last year I "quit" Subeta - gave away all my pets and everything. But then the pandemic happened, and I was bored, and one thing led to another and now I have more pets than I did before I quit. XD

I don't think there's really a news post yet, as there isn't yet anything concrete to report, but Bug and sometimes Keith keep us informed in the Site Updates subforum: https://subeta.net/forums.php/forum/115/Site-Updates
