(which in the end had no longer anything to do with being caused by removing one pet) No idea, if it is connected.
I usually don't pay much attention, only by chance noticed it, when checking on something else.
The happiness of some of my pets is down to 9/10. They are NOT in the resort (thus hunger is at 0/10), but DO have minions. 3 are still completely happy, could be that they were the last to check out after Morostide battling. But this was quite a few days ago anyway. This doesn't interfere with game play, still thought it should be mentioned.
Thanks for bringing this up! This is actually not a glitch. When I fixed up the happiness/hunger code, I intentionally made it so minions would only increase happiness up to 9. This is so it is still possible to play with toys with that pet.
This was long ago that I don't remember exactly, but I am pretty sure this was a requested QoL feature - people wanted minions to increase happiness to one point below max, so that they can still complete Major Drills quest that require playing with a toy.

My 3 smallest pets are still at 10/10 happiness, though. Perfectly o.k. for me. Just so you know.
If they were at 10/10 happiness before the minion was attached, that will never drop, so maybe that is what happened?
Because the code is just like
So if a pet is at 10/10 happiness, it will not drop, so it'll never go down to 9.

However, today it's the other way round: everybody is at happiness 10/10 with exception of those 3 last ones.
But as long as that is within your set parameters and works as intended it doesn't matter.
