Subetapedia has phonetic spellings on all species' names! I'm curious who says 'em wrong like me.
For clawsion, I say "claw-SHUN." Whoops. π
I definitely say 'quirky' for Qrykee 'ex-ot-ull' for Xotl
[font=monospace]
Cadogre; supposed to be kah-DOH-ger, but I've always pronounced it Kah-dog-ray. Darkonite; supposed to be dar-KO-nite, but I've always pronounced it DARK on Ite
I disagree with the name Yaherra, zo mine say Experiment . Also Qrykee, zo I say ...
ditto on that one. i also pronounce Mallarchy as "mal-archie" even though im pretty sure its supposed to be "malarkey" to be a pun.
Legeica is pronounced le-GAY-sha but I've always pronounced it le-GAY-ka. Illumis is ihl-loo-MEES Kanis is KAN-iss Telenine is teh-leh-NEEN (I know teh-leh-NINE makes so much more sense bc 'canine' but brain rejects)
i have definitely been saying "archan" wrong this whole time (arch-an) oops
[/link]Apparently I say a lot of them wrong. Most of these pronunciations feel deliberately contrived just to not sound the way you'd expect. The stresses are in weird places that make them downright hard for me to say.
My pronunciations are in parentheses:
Archan (ar-chan) Official: ARK-an Clawsion (claw-zhun) Official: CLAW-see-on Cybill (sigh-bill) Official: SIB-ill Darkonite (DARK-o-nite) Official: dar-KO-nite Donadak (DON-uh-dak) Official: don-AH-daak Dragarth (DRAY-garth) Official: drah-GARTH Escalade (ES-kuh-laid) Official: es-KAH-laid Kerubi (CARE-oo-bee) Official: ker-OO-bee Legeica (leh-GUY-ka) Official: leh-GAY-sha Montre (mon-tray) Official: MAWN-trah Rreign (rayn) Subetapedia is kind of ambiguous on this one, it says REIN, which I could read as "ryne" or "rayn" Swampie (SWAMP-ee) Official: swamp-EE Warador (WAR-a-dor) This is my favorite species and I'll pronounce it how I want. The official "war-AH-door" is so awkward... Wyllop (willup) Official: WHY-lop Zentu (ZEN-too) Official: zen-TOO
Oh, I also intentionally pronounce Wyllop and Warador with an initial "V". I seem to do this with any name that starts with "W".
among some of the mispronunciations already listed by other users, noktoa as knock-twah :') knock-TOE-uh feels so unnatural to me. I didn't even realize how weird most of the official pronunciations were.
| Official Pronunciation | My Pronunciation |
| Archan (ARK-an) | Ar-CHAN |
| Clawsion (CLAW-see-on) | CLAW-shin |
| Kanis (KAY-nis) | KAN-is |
| Mallarchy (muh-LAR-kee) | MAL-ar-kee |
| Qrykee (KRIKE-ee) | CROC-ee |
| Tutani (too-TAH-nee) | TUT-a-nee |
| Xotl (ZOH-til) | ZOT-uhl |
Cybill (SIB-ill) I pronounce SIGH-bill
Hipottu (hip-AW-too) HIPPO-too
Kanis (KAY-nis) CAN-iss
Legeica (leh-GAY-sha) LE-jih-cah
Malticorn (MALT-ee-corn) MALT-uh-corn
Noktoa (nock-TOE-uh) KNOCK-tow like the pokemon noctowl minus the l

Apparently a ton of them.

Qrykee (KRIKE-ee) I end up saying it as 'quirky'
Apparently pronouncing the first part of Mallarchy like mallard is wrong... supposed to be muh-LAR-kee
oh no i clicked on 8 pets and pronounced 2 of them correctly and had to stop checking for shame
My mispronunciations: Legeica: "Leh-gay-sia" Montre: "Mon-trey" Qrykee: "Quirky" Rreign: "ruh-rey-gn" (I don't know why my brain does this with double and silent letter)
