i think it would be nice to have the number of redeemed invites visible in the subeautique, maybe under esmeralda's portrait. something like "current invitations: 5" just so we don't have to check the currencies page to see how many we have before making a purchase. sometimes i waffle on buying something because i'm not sure how many invites i have and wonder if i should maybe save them for something else, but in the time it would take me to check, i might miss out on that item.

To me this Suggestion feels weird. Invites aren't that common but they're buyable if you really want a particular item, if anyone has five redeemed they are not hurting for getting them in the first place, finding something to buy isn't that common, and there's a five minute delay before you can buy again.

The main reason I can think of doing this is to aid speculators. The point of making Subeautique be invite-only was to prevent the speculations that many users didn't like when it was a regularly restocking shop. So aiding speculators violates the spirit of the shop creation. OTOH I don't agree with this premise that made Subeautique work this way, so I don't know how I feel about undermining it.

the number of invites i have varies greatly, since i prefer letting them accumulate through site usage over buying them outright. sometimes i'll stack up 10 or 15 invites, then use almost all of them without realizing it. for all i know, at any given time, i could have 6 invites left, or 3, or only 1. that might make me think twice about buying something if i think i'd rather hold out hope for a different item showing up soon, or if i know buying it will mean i'll have to buy more invites since i'll miss out on restocks if i just wait to accumulate more.

I agree with this suggestion. The redeemed ones don't show up for account search, as of now, the only place you can look them up is on the currencies page. I tend to let them stack up in my vault, because in the future I might use them for books or invites. It would be nice to have some warning when I'm running low.

I've had a few times this caught me after buying an item. Once a couple days later because I didn't realize I used the last one until I went to stalk the shop. I don't even know right at this moment how many I have redeemed.

Yeah, it may be easy to buy or get some out of the vault and redeem when you get the warning but I'd rather know before hand so I'd know, do I redeem the invite in my inventory or vault it? I only buy the items I need and don't resell so I don't want loads redeemed.

I agree that this would be helpful. Plus other currency shops tell us how much currency we have, so it makes sense.

Full support for this suggestion! I've had it added to The Giant List of Usability and Random Improvement 2.0 for ages. x) I hate when I inadvertently run out. I'd love for it to be visible on all pages of the Subeautique (under Esmeralda's portrait is a good idea), not just the main page.

No support because it already exists. You can add a widget to your sidebar that has "Special Currencies" and tells you how many of those (and every other special currency) you have and it will be right there on the page when you're looking.

Just go to the Customize Sidebar section and add the Special Currencies widget and you're all set.

I do use that widget. However, I don't feel its a great solution to the problem. First, it means extra scrolling because I keep that info near the bottom since I don't use it as often as I use higher placed widgets. Second, in my case at least, it lags badly at keeping updated so I'm never completely sure its accurate.

I'd definitely mention to them if it's lagging, as it really shouldn't be. And I can see it being a pain when it's near the bottom (mine is too) but they used to display invite totals (iirc) and took it away because of the widget, so I don't imagine them going back but idk - I could be wrong on all of that.

I support! I mean the special shops show your currencies (New years tokens, candy hearts, trinkets, etc.) So I feel like it would be nice to include the SubQ. c:

sure, but all of those other shops tell you how much of their currency you have in the shop itself. i don't need the widget to know how many wizard tokens i have before i decide to buy something from the token shop. (BHH is an exception but it's supposed to be tricky anyway so that doesn't bother me so much.)

also, not everyone uses all the shops/currencies listed in that widget, so a lot of that information is redundant and just clogs up the sidebar. (also also, widgets will be going away when the new site rolls out, so then you REALLY can't see at a glance what you have.)
