Hi there ^^ I just came back to subeta from a long hiatus and would like to possibly take commissions again to get USD and stuff for my pets haha. As I had never regularly done commissions before and it has been so long since I last take any, so I'd really appreciate advice on pricing my arts (USD/CSC/SP) as I'm not really sure about it now ha h a.

I mostly do paint-y style and those are the styles I think I'm willing to offer for now:

Quicker Doodles (Fullbody for Quad/Half body for anthro/human): 1 :: 2 :: 3 :: 4

More Polished (Fullbody/Close to fullbody anything): 1 :: 2

Regular Works (Fullbody anything): 1 :: 2 :: 3 :: 4 :: 5 :: 6 (I...haven't do any regular work those days so those are all from the beginning of last year/2018, oops (:3c_L) Still appreciate advice with what you can see tho and thanks!)

Regular with Environment/Surrounding objects (Fullbody/Close to fullbody anything): 1 :: 2 :: 3 Examples kinda vary in the ratio of the environments but the time put in is sorta similar by focusing on environment/character more.

Flat colored (Fullbody anything): 1 :: 2 :: 3

Sorry if there are a lot haha! I'll appreciate any help or advice on pricing the arts, thanks for your time and have a good one anyway! =D

I'm. pretty sure I remember you..!

Honestly? You can charge whatever the hell you want; your art makes my heart shiver.

I'm a chronic underpricer, so I can't really give you solid numbers. How long does a piece take you? What have you charged before? Regulars look $50+, w/environment $80+, doodles $15+, more polished $20-30+? Flats are fantastic & I can see them being very popular, again $20-30++ depending on how much time / effort they take you compared to doodles.

As I said, the world's in your palm.

You could always try out an auction & see how much you fetch (not sure how active those are now-a-days though), and you could also do a freebie thread (offering the quicker stuff) & ask for opinions there (that'd get you some attention as well).

Oh, and remember to make a ping group if you haven't already! It'll make your life easier if / when you do open a shop /laughs

The (I think) most commonly used conversion rate is 10m / 100 CSC / $1, so maybe try that out & adjust as needed (might want to charge slightly more for sP / CSC slots to encourage USD slots, for example).

Anyhow, best of luck with everything, thank you for today's dose of inspiration, and welcome back! ;w; ❤️

Ohhhhhhh my gosh, I do think that I remember your username too? ;; ;; Cannot remember the details sorry orz, but I probably did commission/ request for you or commissioned from you before or something? Because that's probably the only time when I interact with ppl before haha.

And holy moly, thank you SO MUCH for your super kind words!! Q___Q I'm glad that you like my arts and that means a lot to me ♥ Super appreciate your advice and help too, that's really clear and ohhh right, auctions could be a good way to start too ^.^ Thanks for mentioning it! Oh and I appreciate the tip of do freebies for attentions first too :'D tbh most of the art example here except the regulars (commissions)/Flats (my kids) are free requests/arts for friends on another petsite xD. I do enjoy do those when I feel like to and should do some here when I finish the last set! Anyway, thank you very much for the advice and tips again kindly, glad to see some familiar people here again and please have a good one!

If you make an art board, please add me on your ping list! I'm budgeting csc to be your first customer lol

I second CORE on charging based on hours spent because this is professional quality work, and there's such a range of complexity within the same type of work in the more time-consuming styles (eg. w/ environment). Charging based on hour would give you the flexibility to be paid what you deserve for more expensive work.

I'd up the charges for the lower tiers: doodles for $20+, more polished for $30+, flats for $35+. I imagine the flats will be the most popular because the blurring is cinematic, but may not be to everyone's taste, especially when subeta art purchases are often used as transparent files to be put into other webpages/pet profiles/forum signatures/ect.

Let me know if you've questions! I stalk the art market a lot and can give more specific advice about how to frame your shop if you're still interested in selling.

OH MY GOSH I'M SO SORRY I was having a busy life with school stuff and forgot to check here out for quite a while ansjdhqhdlaisfsaf. I truly appreciate all your suggestions and comments!! ;; ;;

Holy moly, thank you so very much for your super kind words!! Cries. And those are some really fair and helpful suggestions! o: I'd done commissions charged based on hours before but they were for commercial uses so I guess I could try to go with it but lower the rate for the general works haha xD. Never think about it before! And I really appreciate the feedback about the style! You are totally correct haha, I do tend to do cinematic effects but it totally makes sense that ppl would prefer clear works for the use here; could try offering different options hmmm.

Anyway, thanks a bunch again for the comment! I didn't expect to be this busy with school lately so I prob cannot take commissions until the winter break orz. But thanks for your offer of additional advance helps! q q

Awww thank you so much!! I, unfortunately, have been having trouble maintaining any social media for my arts (oops), so I don't ; ; sorry about that but I'm super glad to hear that you like my arts! /hearts/ Ur drawings are amazing btw, love the colors ___

Here I am confirming my interest c:

Thanks for the gift! I'm actually leaving subeta so I'm going to send it back your way, so you can share w/ someone who might make better use of it.

Another tip for future artboards: You might want to format the first posts so images are image previews--allows potential customers to quickly glance at your work instead of having to click into each link. To save space, you can put multiple images under spoiler formatting c:

I'd agree Solaris' pricing and shop formatting suggestions! Also, if you do make a ping group for people interested in getting a commission from you, I'd love to be a part of that group. Your work is stunning!

[sub] : Oh man, your art makes me weep ;-; Happy tears happy tears haha. If you ever start social media or anything of the sort I'd love to follow :'). For pricing help, I think the community here, in general, undercharges for the same quality of art I see on instagram/other sites. I think going by your hours and using the average amount of time spent on a category of art as your flat/base cost you can adjust additional pricing per slot with complication/complexity fees. At the end of the day, you're basically working so making sure to set your boundaries with yourself on how much time your willing to invest per dollar helps keep your mentality clear especially when you start knocking out commission after commission. Any other info, I'd be parroting the others. Stunning artwork![/sub]
