Well, the level isn't that high, but compared to her other stats ... [user not found] has 160 of each stat, including level. That's not ideal. After an extended hiatus, I'm in the process of adopting out a lot of my pets, only keeping a few select ones which I plan to train, and Bette was among those lucky chosen ones until I enrolled her in a lesson at the training center and realized that there is something odd about her. So what is the best strategy now? I can absolutely not afford to pay more than 7000 SP for each of her sessions, especially since I've got other pets to take care of. Is there a way to "fix" her? I was thinking to maybe focuss on battle quests to raise her other stats, but that would probably take forever and I don't want to neglect my main battle pet. Does anyone have some good advice on what's best to do now?
To be honest - 160 stats is not too high in the grand scheme of things so you are not too bad off. Battle Quests, beating normal challengers and making sure to find all the secret challengers to grind exp is the cheapest option. There are no inexpensive ways to lower your level and likely not enough available for purchase to even consider it anyway. With 7k training costs being too high, you don't really have any other options.
7k sP should not be too hard to earn back . Do your pets all have jobs? You should be able to easily get a job to cover the cost to train at least once daily and sell/pawn any loot drops during XP grinding.
Yeah, only way to lower level is with an evil potion, and if 7k per training session is breaking the bank, evil potions are out of the question.
I would recommend just doing other quests, like the wizard and pete to get some SP and just train those other stats up. Don't train level until it's the only stat that you can train. (you can train stats to 1.5x your level, so right now you could get to 240 in your other stats) Battle quests every day will also help a bunch getting those stats up.
Be sure to do other things like suggested like putting your pets in jobs and playing random as often as possible.
Thanks for your replys and your input! :) Most of my pets have jobs, but I think Bette does not yet since I went on hiatus right after I adopted her and only just returned. It's not so much that 7200 sp per session are not affordable, it just seems a lot compared to what I have to pay for my other pets. For comparison: Bette has 160 of each stat, including level. One session costs 7200 sp and lasts 102 minutes. Another pet is about to hit 280 of each stat, costs 5085 and sessions last only 76.5 minutes. The pet who is closest in level and therefore price to Bette already has her stats in the 430s. I'm really bad at math, so I'm not sure how much more time and money Bette's training will need in the long run, but I'm wondering whether it's worth it for a pet who is not even my tertiary battler. If there's really no lucrative way to decrease her level, perhaps it's best to put her UFA :(
I have a pet who was in a similar situation: level 100 with very low other stats.
I train all my pets to get them to an equally high tier, and even though this guy is at level 100, he's lower in tier than my more evenly-keeled level 83 pets.
You have a few options available to you.
If you want to lower the level, I would not recommend the evil potion. Not only is it expensive, but it has the possibility of giving your pet anywhere from -2 levels to +5 levels, so it's likely that it would have the opposite effect to what you want. There is one item that will reliably lower levels: . At 33 million sP, it's not as expensive as I've seen it before, but it's still a bit much for your needs.
The cheapest bet to lower level is the zapper, but this is very unpredictable and can, again, result in the level being raised or, very likely, the pet's appearance changing.
Instead of lowering the level, you can train the pet through non-training center means. Battling with that pet will give you exp that you can use to boost its other stats. Doing Shinwa every day gives you a likelihood of a stat booster such as the laurels (or one of her many other stat boosters). Zapping a pet with a minion gives you a chance of getting a slime minion, which is also a stat booster.
But also consider this: stat boosters usually sell pretty quickly and give you a nice chunk of change. If you get these items, it would be more advisable to just sell them and use that money to train Bette in the training center, because 7k (or even 99k, which is how much it would cost you to train Bette around the clock for one day) is pennies compared to some of the stat boosters.
So my best recommendation is this: just train Bette in the training center. If you do your quests every day, you should be able to easily afford it, even with all your other pets. I'm currently training 40 pets regularly, most of whom cost 2295-4545 sP each time. It does cost a lot (I lose around 100-120k sP every time I put them all in for another training session), but I'm able to afford it by doing quests. In fact, I typically save 3 million sP in the bank every day and still have enough for training (and that's not counting what I make selling stuff).
[Edit]Keep in mind that at least Bette's cost isn't going to go up all the time like the rest of your pets, since her level will remain the same for a good long while.
Also, jobs can give you occasional stat boosts (although sometimes it boosts the level). If you want to give Bette a job, I'd recommend Delphi Art Museum, which can give the highest payout (10750 sP) at her current intelligence level. However, if you're interested in reading to her more, I'd recommend boosting it to at least 260 and giving her a job at Asmodeus Gentech Lab for 15,500 sP per day. You don't have to get her to 260 intelligence right away either - you can start her on the job and then work on reading to her, so you get points for being in the job a while too. See Job Agency Guide and Discussion for more information.
Thanks for your input :) That really helped, at least I feel like I'm not looking at the situation too negatively anymore. I think I'm just going to keep her and make the best of it. Being the only non-mammal among my pets, she was planned to be a bit of the odd one anyway, so I'll just regard her little issue as "quirky" :D I am somewhat familiar with the job agency already, so that shouldn't be an issue. Especially since now, that I'm only keeping 12 out of my 26 pets, the books I get from questing don't have to shared around that many pets anymore so there should be tons for Bette to read.
- Yeah, battling can become an expensive hobby. The training costs only go up from here. My pet costs 120k to train, mind you, she only gets one session a day. But what Written said is true, until all your other stats are at 1.5x the level, the training price won't increase, as the price increases with level. Training many pets gets pricey, but it can be worth it in the end though, battling does get you some SP and the loot from opponents can be sold (or used by yourself to save you the cost of buying them yourself)
True that it's expensive. So far my main battle pet costs only 18270 per session, but I know it's going up. And it is worth it to me, I guess I was just a little shocked when I realized how Bette's stats were messed up. I'm fine with it now, especially since I realized that the alternative - adopting her out and spending another extra couple of millions for a new storm potion for a new storm Mallarchy - isn't exactly cost-efficient either :D
Oof, yeah, definitely not. Just try to keep your other stats at 1.5x level from now on so you don't end up 'overpaying' for training.
I think you can save the money from questing and making a shop to sell extras to train your pets. My battle pet cost me 160K SP a day. All my pets get jobs also.
You get SP from battling also goodies.
Welcome back! :)
Thank you :) Since Bette is a color/species that I really want and has a gorgeous legacy name I've decided to commit, plus it's really not as bad as I initially thought. After all, it seems like the really expensive part is buying weapons and scrolls. I've done some battling with all of my pets over the weekend, that also seems to help a lot to raise their stats faster.
