So I am tentatively putting the rest of my pets up for adoption. I'm going to be honest, I don't understand the whole legacy name value, or the old birthdates. But I can see they are highly prized as I look through the adoption pages.. And when I told my friends, who are also on this site, that I was going to make all new pets with Nice names instead of trying to finagle some sort of half word that sounds like the name I wanted, they were mighty quick to ask for pets that I was planning to pound. So am I hurting myself by getting rid of/adopting out these pets? Like should I just rename them all and keep them? or should I give everyone else who has already cared about the legacy stuff the chance to own my older pets?
I don't even know if I'm making sense.
Anyway, unless someone convinces me that I shouldnt let go of these pets, I'll be adopting them out to someone who can prove to me that they really care about the pet for its lagacies, be it birthdate or legacy name, what makes this pet special to you? and what would your plans be for them?
Pets up for adoption are all either born in 2009 or 2010--
Legacy Named Ones:
Spartacus adopted by Army Tank Sunshine adopted by Muszashi adopted by Tokkolos adopted by Tokkolo Tuval- adopted by
The rest of my pets were born in 2009 or 2010
and are tentatively up for adoption as well.
But please if possible let me know if I am doing the wrong thing by getting rid of them and starting out with a fresh set of pets.. Like I said in the beginning, I'm sort of doing this blindly. Applications not entirely required, but it will definitely help your chances of getting what you want.
I would love to be considered for Army Tank and can write up my plans for him if you'd like :) I love Glacier pets and the legacy birthday is a fun bonus. I think if you are attached to some of your pets species/color combos, you might want to reconsider renaming them, because some potions are really expensive. You can go to the Cleaning Pools at the Bathhouse Pools and it will remove your pets' legacy name, if you do not wish to see it visible on their page.
thank you for the advice! why should I keep them though, is there something special about them that I just don't know?
sure, just post why you want him, and your plans for him :)
And yes! I discovered that about the bathhouse pools, but thank you for bringing it up!
If you still like the color/pet combos that your pets are, you'd probably be better off keeping and renaming them. Especially with the pricier color potions, such as Glade and Reborn.
That being said, if you do get rid of them, I'm interested in Arkadeon for his birthday. I'd keep him Galactic, but probably change species. I've been wanting to make a solar system pet, so he'd get a treasure full of planets, stars, aliens, etc.
It really is up to you. :) People just like the "prestige" of owning older pets. I think if it doesn't matter to you either way you could put them up for adoption as other people would be mighty happy to have pets with low IDs, but it's just another one of those arbitrary things we place value on. There are no advantages or disadvantages for owning those low ID pets.
There are some people who want specific birthdays and years for their characters though. Looking for a Specific Birthday?
I'd like to tie him in with my Glacier Machu, Expedition, since he's basically a Glacier monkey, and Army Tank is a Glacier dog. I haven't written much lately because I've been obsessed with working on my pets TC's lately. Expedition's custom profile broke when Photobucket took a dump, but I'd like them both to have matching profiles and have each other linked on their pages.
There's nothing significantly special about legacy names or old birthdays, some people just like to collect them since they are no longer able to be made that way, if that makes sense. I don't collect or actively seek old birthdays, but most of my pets have them since I created or adopted them back then. As far as the legacy name or not, I could care less because some of my pets have already been renamed because I figured "Why not name them the name I've always wanted, instead of something close to it."
You aren't hurting yourself at all if low id pets or legacy names have no value to you. It's just a preference some people have and enjoy for themselves. I am one who is kinda on the fence with it, feeling unsure if I should care about it, but at the same time I do find it cool and gives me something extra to enjoy I suppose.
On that note, I am rather interested in Muszashi. I really like the slight difference in the japanese name, but even more so, I really like the idea of possibly having a low ID August birthday pet as I am born in August myself. I will admit I don't have a lot of idea of what kind of story I'd want to do with him just yet, but he'd certainly get something, possibly even something within my original story. I understand if others have given better applications for him as I see that has been noted for him.
I was also going to ask about Tokkolos as well but it seems he's already found another home. I thought he might make a nice island guardian kind of pet.
Idk really. I agree with someone who said the potions are expensive, and if you like a certain color, keep it. But really it is such a personal thing. I am wrapped up in all my pets, and though many have changed through the years, I have put so much time, effort, and money (sp, csc, and real $, depending) into them that even when I adopted several out, later I got all but one back. lol If you don't feel that way or care one way or the other, it doesn't matter. Adopt these out and start fresh if you want to. It all comes down to you, and no one but you can make such a choice. :)
- I think given the new name setup and the personal emotional attachment I have to my pets that I've had since the beginning I think it'd be nice to keep them and maybe just change up their names/idea?
However, I can see the appeal of starting fresh and letting other users maybe have their dream pets? At the same time tho, people might want them most for their id and not their color so it's definitely a toughie. I personally find the lower IDs appealing because it makes all my pets be around the same "age" and in some of my pets storylines that kind of matters so idk! It's definitely up to you, but if I were you, I'd probably keep them and change their names / zap them until they become something I find inspiring~!
[font=verdana]art shopThe only thing I would caution you is that once you decide to adopt out your pets, if you decide later that IDs, birthdates, or legacy names mean anything to you, it will be hard to go back.
But if they don't matter to you at all, and you don't think they will ever matter to you, and you just want a fresh start, go for it!
As for the costliness of potions, my solution is to zap my pets instead of saving up for the really expensive potions. Sometimes I zap just to see what suits my fancy, and sometimes I "target zap", meaning I'm looking for a specific color on a specific species. This isn't too difficult, because you can zap a pet every two hours, and elixirs (they change the pet's species) are pretty cheap. But it can be frustrating sometimes.
The other nice thing about zapping is that if I get the zap on the wrong pet, I can just change their names. (Unless there was something important about their birthday, ofc.)
If you only want nice names you simply can change the names of the pets you have. It does not cost you anything and you still can keep them, you even can remove the legacy name if you don't like it or hide it with a simple code. You actually now can do everything with them what you want.
If you don't care for birthdays, IDs or legacy names at all then adopt them out and get new pets, zap them, save up for potions, whatever you like best.
But as written says, once adopted out getting them back is nearly impossible and people can do with them whatever they want, may it be removing the legacy name, dropping them ins the AC, etc.

Sorry everyone, after reading about how hard it will be to get back the low IDs, I'll be keeping a few of my pets. But those with good legacy names are still up for adoption. I really want them to go to a home that will use and appreciate their legacy names
yea, I'm mostly looking for people who want the pets for their legacy names now. Thinking it over a lot, I'm kind of thinking I might like having pet stories all with pets from the same year, it just makes a lot of sense, and like everyone is telling me that once I adopt out all the low id pets that its hard to get them back.
Thank you, you helped me a lot, I'm now going to keep some of them for their birthdates, and adopt out the legacy named ones to people who will care for and treat them right.!!
Yea, I'm going to adopt out legacy names to people who care about legacy names, people who will write nice stories for thwm. But keep the ones who have low IDs, since it will be hard to get back the low dates should I decide I want them, or to collect them. Thank you!!
I have a long application for muszashi, and was going to adopt him out, but I can wait if you want to put in an app for him as well. and if you were interested in tokkolos, I also have tokkolo up for adoption, just let me know if you want to put in an app for him
after a lot of thought, I'm really looking for people who want them for their legacy name. That is what I will be prioritizing. If you plan to keep the name, you are still welcome to try out for him. Though if no one else tries for him, and you have a nice app for him, I will most likely choose you over anyone else
yea wow, a lot of people are looking for specific birthdays....... I am prioritizing people who want my pets for their legacy names, I'd just feel bad changing their names just so I can keep the dates.
if I missed anyone, just let me know ok?plzkthnxbye!
If I'm able to adopt him I would be changing his name to one with a celestial meaning. Legacy names aren't very important to me.
[pet not found] or Tokkolo
I would love the opportunity to write a story for either or both of them. I work in a workshop with two other people and those are both their favorite species of pet. I'm also a huge fan of how they look in those colors.
The pets who have pages that are mostly complete are displayed in a widget on my profile. If you'd like to see art references, I can provide those as well.

is he a specific date you were looking for? or is he just an id to you? not that id isn't important, I just want to be sure he sticks around for a good long time. Meaning he doesn't get pounded then deleted. Which, I'm guessing, is why the pound lacks any pets in it.
I'm very sorry, but I'm really considering long time accounts more so than new ones, because I want to make sure the adopted pet stays onsite for many more years to come, and sadly, many new accounts abandon their pets or let them rot. No hard feelings tho!? sorry just being honest. I know because I abandoned my account for a long time too... so I'm tots a hypocrit. but yea, if no one else wants them, I will definitely consider you tho
If you change your mind, just let me know! 😅

I'm interested in him for his low ID. Almost all my pets have low IDs, so for them to "fit in" I prioritize low IDs when adopting. For me, that is IDs that are under 2 million. Only time I would be pounding my low ID pets would be if I ever quit, which I have no plans to.
I believe the pound is empty more often now because we can now name our pets non-unique names. So pets called Kumos18463 are more likely to be adopted now.
ok, now I understand a bit more. about the low id thing. So I'll definitely keep you in mind for Arkadeon. especially since you seem to not be a new account. putting in a fleshed out story idea would really help too.
I have been here for 11 years, today is my account anniversary. :)
For Arkadeon, I'd like to team him up with my pet, Yaniv, who dreams of flying. This would work out for Arkadeon, who would love to see space one day. So they'd band together to build the jet-pack that Yaniv has been building with parts he has scavenged for.
