ty but doesn't seem to be working for me. keeps sayin an error occurred.

There's a known issue right now with the hair salon in the wardrobe. Try adding hair again (without adding/changing any items/clothes). If that doesn't work you'll have to clear everything and add the hair first then the items.
there are also hair items you can buy. I rarely use the hair salon honestly.

There are a lot of "wig" items which give your avatar hair, you can find a bunch of them at NPC shops such as Grooming Parlor I listed a few cheapies off the top of my head, and you can also earn some via the Quest Shop from doing quests too :)
