I like seeing it onhand, it's more practical to have there along with my current CSC. Keeping in mind that misclicking in a user shop could lose me money, are there any random events or other reasons that my on-hand sP might be in danger? I am 95% sure the random events that take your sP are retired from the site, right?
You are correct. There is no real reason to bank your sP. In the past, in addition to the REs that stole money, you would get interest, but that no longer applies either.
The only reason these days is if you are saving up for something special, like a new pet slot or something and you want to both track it and keep it out of mind.
There are still a few things that can affect your inventory, like zapping or the bonfire, but nothing left that affects your sP.

Thank you ! I was hoping that was the case.
Personally, I keep most of my sP except for a small amount for quests and stuff in my vault, just so I'm not tempted to spend all of it on impulse buys and things like that.
If I have to go take it out of my vault when I want to purchase something, it gives me a bit of extra time to think over whether or not I really need/want the thing, haha. :P
But yeah, other than personal preference there isn't really a reason why keeping it in or out of your vault is better than the other way.
Haha the pull to spend can be strong. For me seeing that number onhand and knowing that's all I have is a really good deterrent, if I can see how much it drops after that one purchase, and see how quickly it goes up when I sell things, it keeps my spending on track. Tbh I wish I had a way to see my IRL bank account constantly too, if I could like glance at my watch and see how much cash I have at any given second I might be better at budgeting. xD Thanks for the answer!
I rarely have much on hand, but that's only because as soon as I have enough, I usually spend it on Morty Cards. This effectively converts the sP into CSC and allows me to do both Sarah's and Saggitarius' quests on the same day.
I use my shop till as my "piggy bank", only busting it open when I want to make big purchases.
I only ever vault my sP if I'm saving for something big and don't want to be tempted into spending.
Does anyone know why they did away with interest? I quite enjoy seeing my interest go up with my savings.
there were a few reasons.
Not sure which items in particular had more weight than others, but all these were discussed.

I think that's a bit generous. Mine was 2% IIRC, and using the Morty Card only made it go up one more percentage point, so the most I ever got was 3%.
oh wow! I thought the base was 5...that's harsh. I had 8%, so I mostly kept quiet in the discussions. Didn't feel fair to advocate to keep it since I was on the advantageous side.

For sure. I wasn't a part of the discussion at the time, but now that I know that there was such a large disparity among users, it makes sense that they did away with it. I know interest always used to frustrate me because it felt like I was saving up for pennies. I was still kind of bummed when they initially got rid of the interest, but in the end I don't really miss it (and the Morty Cards being repurposed for CSC is much nicer!).
That makes sense--thanks for the info! Although regarding the "fairness" argument, I'm of the (maybe unpopular) opinion that not everyone has to have the same bonuses in a game, since the interest was just that: a bonus. But alas, I understand the drive behind listening to those who minded. And it's definitely not the most important thing ever XD
Yeah, I think there were a few ways they could have dealt with the "unfairness" - one would have been to reduce the disparity, make it just a few points between highest and lowest. Another option would have been to roll the dice once a year, so you weren't forever stuck at 2% while someone else got 10%. If that had been the only issue, they might have come up with some compromise, but there were other percieved issues as well.
I was disappointed that they took it away, but it wasn't that big a deal.

Past tens of milions, it messes with my mind and I start transposing numbers and failing to catch site errors, so I stash my on-hand pocket-money away when it gets close to fifty million.
I remember at the 2010 Subeta meetup I went to that everyone was shocked at just how much interest I was collecting. It was more than they could earn. It would be a helluva lot more now.
I'm still in the mindset it was taken away if too large so got in the habit of storing. And my interest rate was so low, I never saw much difference when taken away but I would love to have the same number or it randomly changed once a year!
