so I'm a bit confused... I wanted to make a Nostalgic pet so I got the instructions and completed the quest and I got the toy, not the pet, but then he said something about getting a life giving essence/something? Is that how you turn the toy into a pet? If so, what is it? Also, if I do that, will I be able to make it on top of a pet I already have? Because I want to change one of my pets into a nostalgic one.

You also need an item called Essence Of Melody.

Then take both the Plushie and the Essence to Vanya and make sure that the Pet you want to be Nostalgic is your active Pet.

You have to take the toy and the back to Vanya and then he will turn a pet (I believe your active one, so make sure the right one is active!) into the nostalgic pet.
