Hey guys!
I can't be the only one around here who likes a good, old-fashioned tabletop game. Or at least, I hope I'm not!
So what are some of your favorites?
I thoroughly enjoy the Pandemic series of games and other cooperative-style games like Fuji and Forbidden Island.
Betrayal at House on the Hill is another major favorite. No matter how many times I play, it never gets old.
Honorable mentions include Takenoko, Karuba, and Martian Dice.
Tell me what games y'all enjoy so that I can add to our board game collection!
I like board games! Some of my favorites are Scotland Yard, Cluedo and The Game of Life.
Another one I really enjoy, but that wasn't available outside of my country and got retired years ago afaik, is a board game where you are a postman carrying letters and packages. I used to play this for hours with my sister when we were younger.
[sub]Just played Carcassonne and Sushi Go! for the first time today and loved both. Both were easy to pickup at first (good casual party games) and did seem to have a variety of strategies to build and counter the other players. My friend really recommends Wingspan (a bird based board game). I also have really loved deck building games such as Dominion! Dominion has so many expansions too so it's difficult to get board with it(pun intended).[/sub]
Those are such classics! Love it. Life is a super fun game. :)
I've never heard of the post man game, but it sounds like fun! I wonder whether you could find it online on any of the board game exchange websites out there.
I love Carcassone! So simple, but so fun. Games with a similar mechanic like Okanagan are cool too.
I've wanted to try Dominion forever but with all those expansions it's a bit intimidating. Maybe one day I'll give it a shot. :D
I got a second copy of the game a couple of years ago via ebay and there still seem to be some around from private sellers however I'm afraid it's only available in German.
I haven't played any in years... But I've always loved Scrabble, Monopoly, and Sorry!.
[sub] : I'll have to check out Okanagan sometime, thank you! And yes hoho~ I wholeheartedly recommend Dominion. I would just get the basic one with no expansion packs and just play with family, friends, or even partner. It seems daunting at first but it feels really intuitive once the cards start getting put down and you get a feel of what the win condition is like.[/sub]
ahh i loooove board games!! they're such a wonderful bonding activity -- it's been nice to keep in touch with my friends lately by playing online versions of some classic games :) definitely ditto on Betrayal, though i'm a pretty awful traitor lol.
Hanabi is one of my favorites that's available online, it's relatively easy to pick up and 100% collaborative. i'm also a big fan of social deduction/lying games like the Resistance, Blood Bound, Deception: Murder in Hong Kong, Don't Mess With Cthulhu, and Werewords~
I absolutely love playing board games with my family. Some of our favorites are Stage II, Trivial Pursuit, Quiddler, Outburst, MindTrap, and Apples to Apples. They're not all technically board games, but since we have to play on Zoom now card games work best.
Ahhhhh, I'm so so terrible at Hanabi. I'm just not good at giving roundabout clues lol. I've tried other games with a similar premise, where you can't communicate either at all or in direct ways, and I'm just awful at them. They are fun, though!
Trivial Pursuit is such a classic, I love it. We have a handful of specialty versions, like the World of Warcraft one and the Harry Potter one, and they're super fun. My head is full of otherwise useless knowledge, so trivia games are a great way to get some of it out there lol.
Apples to Apples is great, too! Party games are such a great way to have fun and keep in touch. :D
