I recognize that there might be some controversy about this idea, and maybe staff have already spoken out on this issue, but hear me out lol

So, a few achievements prizes have multiple uses, or users may want multiple copies of the item for some reason. Some of these prizes are also outstandingly difficult to get, making them very rare compared to other achievement prizes.

For example, the prize for the top tier of winning multiple games of Mazes and Mahars is, for all intents and purposes, unbuyable. There are none available in trades or shops. I got this achievement a while ago, and the book currently hangs out in a pet TC. However, I also have a reader, who I obsessively obtain books for, who will never read this book because it's for a themed pet. I would love to be able to read the book to my reader, while also having my themed pet's TC complete.

Basically, I'd just like the ability to reset achievements to have a chance at earning a prize again to get another copy. I recognize that there may be concerns about gaming the system or cheapening particular items, but I think it would be fair to make the re-do's harder to get, and make them not count towards your achievement total. Or make it an expensive sP sink, or another way for users to spend CSC. It could max out at two prizes earned (or three if staff want to be particularly generous).

I've seen this sentiment expressed by other users before, but couldn't find a thread about it, so figured I'd make one.

I like the idea of an sP sink for this because some of these achievements... I'm not doing twice rofl. Maybe a special shop where the items only unlock if you've finished the achievements first? They should cost quite a bit though, depending on the difficulty of the achievement!

(So if the achievement is really hard for example, maybe staff sets the price at 50mil. You buy one at 50mil, then it goes up to 100mil, then to 200mil, etc. OR you could only buy a max of 1-2 copies, total.)

No idea how programmable this idea would be, but I think it would prevent flooding the system while also allowing multi-use items / tc items :)

[edit] To clarify yes, the one you EARN by completing the achievement should remain free. The high price would start for copy 2 and so on. :)

I like your idea of the specialty shop specifically for achievement prizes, but I think that the first item should still be free - you earned it by completing the achievement. If after that they want to go up steeply and increase like pet slots in the Millionaire Center, that would be fine.

Oh yeah for sure. The one you EARN from the achievement should be free, I specifically meant the price of the extra copies should be high :)

i'm definitely open to some sort of way to get duplicates of achievement prizes.

this might be too convoluted & annoying to implement, but what about some sort of achievement prize shop with a special currency, kind of like the crypts? so certain achievements could reward you with a certain number of achievement points, which can then be spent to buy duplicates of prizes you've already earned?

different achievements could award different amounts of points based on difficulty, and prizes could have different prices based on how rare they're meant to be. it should take significant investment to get extras, i think.

it would probably take a lot of balancing so as not to end up with people basically converting achievements into massive amounts of sP through reselling – i don't think we need ANOTHER source of that sort of thing – but i don't think you'd want to devalue the prizes too much, either. hmmmm.

I think Staff said before that they don't want another special currency. Is it a bad thing that a hypothetical shop would work like the Antique shop?

The first thing that came to mind when I read the OP was :P

I think that the Antique Shop is a great idea :0 especially since some of the achievements in the Games category, and some others I'm sure, are definitely not accessible for all players! Plus, some of the games with achievement prizes are broken.

I like the idea of achievement items being added to a tab in the Antique Shop, or their own shop - but for sP please, not a new currency. And I agree that they should only be available if you've earned the associated achievement, although I'm not sure how that would work programming-wise.

I don't support resetting the achievements themselves, in part because I think it would throw off the achievement counts. If you reset an achievement, would your count go down one? Or would it stay the same, but not go up when you re-earned the achievement?

I don't really see how this is feasible considering there are a lot of items that are purposefully achievement prizes in order to limit rarity. Ex. , and A band-aid fix/compromise might be adding higher tiers rewards to some of these achievements (for the M&M achievement, 200 or 500 wins).

I was never in favor of the limiting the rarity of those.

Doing the same Achievements over, nah. Doing another new Achievement that is just as hard, maybe.

Or make it a massive sP sink, like a billion or a half billion sP.

I agree there should be a way to get a second copy of those prize items.

No new currency - particularly since the achievement process itself is riddled with instability, retired and ridiculous achievements. Not to mention those of us who have been here for years and have mostly earned all the achievements already.

I'm so-so for adding them to the antique shop. I would prefer adding a new tier (and both tiers get the same prize - I felt really ripped off when they added a tier in one of the battle achievements and MOVED the damned prize that I was finally able to earn at the old tier).

That's a really good point about accessibility, too. It's unfortunate that someone might not be able to get an achievement prize because of a disability they have, so having multiple methods of getting the same prizes is a great idea.

That's a fair point about certain prizes, too. I'm not a battler, but I can see why staff would want those items to be really difficult to get. In these cases, a one-size-fits-all solution wouldn't work.

Perhaps the type of prize it is (weapon, plushie, book) could be tied to a related achievement on the site? For example, if someone has like, a set of difficult (but not impossible) to earn plushies in their collection, they could win the ? That way, whatever someone's already passionate about doing on the site will become a way to earn prizes they already intended on getting.

This might already be the case for some battle-related achievements; I'm not certain. Just tossing some ideas around lol.

I also like the idea of putting the items in the antique store, since that's already an established location to get retired quest items. I also like 's point about adding tiers where you get the same prize.

Not sure if someone mentioned this, but I think a setup like the Antique Shop's direct-to-collection feature could work for this in most cases. It doesn't help if you need multiples for non-collection purposes (like more than one TC) but it could maybe help get more into circulation because of people selling their earned copy? And if staff doesn't want too many of the items going out for some reason, there would still be a way to get them into your collection/read them to your pet/etc. without actually generating an item to do it

I agree with this, and like the idea of making it a big sP sink.

Let’s be real, lots of achievements are broken or take years to get, and the subeta userbase is tiny in comparison to what it used to be when there were more of these items being generated in the first place. How many people are actually hitting these achievements and generating items nowadays? The rarity level of some items has been crazy skewed by the change in user composition and there are lots of areas this needs to be taken into account. I’ve been meaning to make a thread addressing the user base issue for weeks aha, but life.

Although I am in favor of finding a limited way to release more copies of these items on to the site, I honestly do not support/agree with any of the abovementioned methods. Achievement prizes are infrequently added to the free shop and I would be in support of another distribution method, but not an sP/antique shop and not an "achievement shop" (either currency or for those who already obtained the achievement). Perhaps a very limited amount could be released on occasion through the Crystal Shop, like tiles and old trivia prizes have been.
