I generally keep my inventory sorted by "timeline" so I can find anything new in my inventory as the last item.

So I just got a ping saying someone sent me a certain item. I went to my inventory to look for it and couldn't see it. I checked to confirm that I was sorted by timeline, and I was. I even clicked it again just to be sure. So I keep looking and eventually find that this item was the first item in my inventory instead of the last. I thought...hmm, maybe they changed the order. But nope, stuff I'd put in my inventory yesterday followed right after my newest item, and stuff I added to my inventory earlier in the day were at the end.

I went to a shop and bought something. It properly showed up at the very end of my inventory.

I only have one of the gifted items in my inventory, so it did not stack with one what was there previously.

As a further note, it was only that one item that was sent via the buddy gifting that was out of place - opening gift boxes, buying stuff, winning stuff in games, quest item, etc, everything else I did yesterday and today ended up in the right place.
