My fiancee and I own six cats and a dog together.
A gray and white domestic shorthair named Shadow. She's also called "Stumpy" because she wasn't fully developed when born so she's got a crooked, stumpy lil tail. She also gets called "Snotty" or "Snotrocket" because she's had sinus problems since birth. She turned 8 on April 20th. Two shorthair torties: one named Summer (my baby) and one named Naegiri (her baby). Giri (Naegiri's nickname) is about seven, and Summer turned 4 on April 20th. Giri was born at my fiancee's home before I even met her; I adopted Summer when I went to pick up the ashes of my former kitty who'd passed away. A gray and white shorthair tabby named Sora, and a black and white shorthair named Sassy (her full name is "Sassafras Obsidian Night). We consider these two sisters, since we got them at the same time. They turned a year old in April, too. And an orange and white tabby named Sherbet who's turning one on the 27th~
As for our dog, she's a little... I think she's a minpin mix? But her name is Yuffie, and my fiancee found her back in her home state probably four years ago, before we moved in together.
Hi there, wow thats a lot of pets and I love the names you've chosen for all of them - although I am sorry to hear about the one that passed away, nothing hurts quite like losing a pet so I understand how you must have felt.
Right now I have a... well it was a Black Butterfly fish, but for some reason it's now Gold. His name is Blackjack though I'm considering changing his name now to match his new colour. He's the type of fish to eat everything in sight but then hide away as soon as there's no more flakes in the tank.
I also have a black and white cat (oh well I say that but it's really my boyfriend's) called Molly. She used to live on a ship and somehow my boyfriend's aunt and uncle found her, adopted her and now my boyfriend takes good care of her. She's lovely really but she is extremely fluffy! xD
At some point when I move-in with the boyfriend, we're considering adopting two more cats and calling them Ivar and Lagertha - the boyfriend is a huge Vikings fan and he's slowly gettng me into it. :)
your pets sound wonderful! :D Oh, that's nothing, tbh. When I as a child, my family had 30 dogs, five cats, fish, ferrets, AND a horse, all at the same time. 27 of them were beagles, one was a French bulldog, one was an old English sheepdog, and one was a chow mix. :0
Wow, colour me impressed! The most I had at any time was three rabbits: Thumper, Snowflake & Smokey. Sadly they all passed away when I was little, but they were adorable.
How'd you manage to look after so many pets, I'm gonna gues it was a bit of a handful? :)
A lot of them were my dad's hunting dogs, so most of them were kept in the backyard (with shelter, food, and water, of course). Only about eight, I think, of the dogs were inside dogs? But mostly, my parents took care of them because I was still a kid at the time. They did make us (me and my two sisters) take food out to our horse in the afternoon, but that was it. The cats were indoor/outdoor and came in and out as they pleased.
Ahhh that would explain it. Sadly my folks are... not anti-animal but rather just didn't like keeping pets, with the exception being fish. If I had my way I'd probably have an army of cats or dogs! :)
My dad was a major animal person. He absolutely loved animals, especially cats and dogs. My grandma, his mother, always claimed that he "hated cats" and "would kill them" but yet when we brought a kitten home, he automatically bonded with him. My mom mostly just raises show dogs, and keeps two cats with her husband now (my father passed away and she remarried).
People can change their perception on animals, thats how I've come to know it. There are so many varieties out there after all, so no one can truly hate them all. Whilst I can be a bit weary around animals, animals literally flock to my boyfriend whenever he's around. Where he lives are some sheep fields, and whenever he's near the fence you see a rush of fluffy white clouds running over to him!
Also I'm terribly sorry to hear about your father, I do hope you're okay.
That's so adorable! Honestly, animals tend to do that to me, too. My dad had intense animal magnetism (animals adored him), and I think I inherited it from him. For example, the first time I met my fiancee's cat Giri, Giri spent the entire night sprawled out across my lap.
I'm slowly getting better from losing him. It's been almost ten years, but it still hurts. But I keep going, and caring for animals, in his honor.
That's so adorable! My boyfriend used to have a cat who he just called Kitty, and whilst she didn't sit on my lap she did look after me. He was out with some friends during winter a few years back, and I came down with the flu. Kitty normally didn't pay me any attention, but instead she curled up by where my arm was hanging and just stayed there keeping me company. :) Animals are so empathetic.
Whilst I can't truly understand how it is to lose a parent, I know how it is to lose a loved one - and if he truly loved animals as much as you say he did, I'm sure he's happy that you're continuing that for him. :)
Aww, that's so precious! Animals really are wonderful. I honestly don't know what I'd do without them. I just don't have the words for how amazing animals are, honestly.
I sure hope he's proud of me.
Yeah, of course I've bumped into a few that aren't so friendly towards me but majority of animals are really sweet. :)
I'm sure he is if you're carrying on something he loved. :)
I have six cats and one dog, all of whom I co-own with my fiancee.

I'm just so glad to have my kitties whenever I'm down. I don't know what I'd do without them.
omg, speaking of my fiancee, there she is. XD
...wow I was NOT paying attention
this is what a long work day does to you folks.
Speaking of pets though, my dog is sitting next to me in a chair that she acts like a jerk if she doesn't get to sit upon.

Okay that small interaction right there between you two was both funny and adorable. :)
Just one short haired tuxedo cat named Cookie. She's my little baby, even though she's a lazybutt and complains when I pick her up.

I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.
I have 5 cats. 14, 11, 11, and 5 years old..one we are unsure of age. the vet claims 6, but i think he is much older. and i also have a 1 yr old syrian hamster c:
I just have a cat. His name is Oliver and he's an 11 year old DSH tabby who likes to protest when all the doors in the house aren't open. He likes food and snuggling and having staring contests with our neighbour's cat through the window.
I'm also a dog walker, so I have a bunch of like... extended dogs that I have walked for years and some I have known since their owners got them as puppies.
