So I noticed a couple of weeks back that I could see a certain user's posts--one who had blocked me and who I had not blocked in return--so I just assumed that they had unblocked me and went about my day. I've since seen comments from them and went to look at the list of users who have blocked me and they're still listed there as having blocked me.

I checked their profile and a couple of others who I had also not blocked in return to make sure it wasn't just a one-off fluke. I can view their profiles. I cannot view the profiles of people who I have blocked in return, however. I don't want to message them to see if that works because I feel that would be disrespectful. But I can definitely see their profiles and comments on site.

That's normal. You can see posts from people who have blocked you, but not from people that you have blocked.

I think because of things like holiday/event resources and ping groups, etc. where it's not really fair to exclude you from seeing a whole thread just because the OP blocked you

I've never been able to see these people in the past though, and it does state in the rules that blocking is supposed to users you have blocked from seeing your profile. It's here.

I know you can see pet spotlights and comment on them. And the shops are intentional. But you shouldn't be able to see their comments, their threads (except you CAN see if they ping a group you're in), their news comments, their profiles, etc.

I don't know about anything but forum posts and it's been a while since I had anyone blocked, but being blocked has never stopped me from seeing other people's posts, only the other way around. I'm not sure why it says it's supposed to work like that, but I can't remember it ever doing that, at least for forum posts.

But I also get an error on the profile of someone who has me blocked so....not sure what's up with that one that it's letting you see their profile

that blocking info is flat out wrong and out of date about forum posts (not sure about the new comments though).

You should NOT be able to see their profiles whether you block or THEY block, if you are logged into the site.

i actually blocked someone while chatting in the SB yesterday, and some time after that one of their posts actually slipped through the block and i could read them?

i don't know if it's related or if it was a quick bug but, there's that! some weird block info to add to your post.

forum posts have been viewable for a very long time; if you don't have the users blocked yourself, you can see their posts/threads/etc. maybe it specifically means you can't view the URL of their direct posts? but that's also fully doable, unfortunately.

i checked & i'm currently unable to see the profiles or comments of anyone who has just me blocked, so hopefully this was fixed/a brief blib? 😬

Hmm yeah I can still see their profiles. :c Sometimes it seems there are just flukes that only apply to certain users? Don't know how that happens. My coding knowledge is very basic. I had filed a ticket about being able to see the news post comments of a user /I/ had blocked, and that was resolved, but I just noticed this as well. My dumb ass just thought they unblocked me. xD The blocking system is a bit...rough. The fact that someone I blocked for harassment /might/ be able to stalk my profile is kind of unsettling. :

I'm not sure if I should post this here or make a new thread, but I'm having a problem UNblocking. I'm getting this error message when I try to unblock:

"Fatal error: Can't use function return value in write context in /home/forge/subeta.net/src/friends_process.php on line 7"

Not the same exact issue, but I did get that same error message.

I didn't try to block anyone, I just tried to unfriend them and got the "Fatal error" above.
