I mentioned this in the shoutbox and a couple people seemed to think it was a good idea, so...

Because it takes a lot of time and effort to fix/code the site alone and would cost a lot to pay someone, is it a possibility to allow others to help?

I don't have the first idea about coding, but a ton of people here seem to know what they're doing. If the staff allowed people to edit and submit code for them to test out and implement if it works, things could get done much more quickly and maybe more efficiently. They could offer CSC or special items in return for help coding, and create a page of credits listing those who help. It would be great on a resume for anyone pursuing coding as a career. Plus, since the COVID crisis has hit, a lot of people are stuck at home with nothing to do, and this could improve their skills AND improve the site.

I understand not making the site's code public but parts of it could be made privately available to specific people who can prove they're experienced coders with some kind of agreement to not publicly share the code themselves.

I've never coded anything, owned a business or ran a website, so I obviously don't know all of the pros and cons to this idea, but maybe it can lead to something.

This feels kinda sketchy from both sides, like on the volunteer coder side a lot of foul play could happen (though that could likely be circumvented by having someone check the code), and from Subeta's side it seems unethical to ask users to code their site for free (meaning Not For Real Money Payment), so I'm gonna err on the side of No Support here.

I feel like a similar suggestion come up and been rejected before but I can't remember when

No support. This is just not a safe idea.

I think the amount of oversight it would require to make sure these volunteers arent going to do sketchy things with the site would make it not worth it for the already underpowered Subeta staff.

People shouldn't be coding for exposure.

Yeah, I can't really see this working at all. I don't think subeta has the resources to ensure that volunteer coders don't end up intentionally messing with the code and compromising the overall security of the site.
