I didn't know whether to post this here or in the Games forum, but I guess it could always be moved.

I just think it would be good if we actually managed to figure out the exact requirements for the Rift skin, since I think at the moment people have just been lucky, but apparently it's more than just luck.

What we know so far is that it requires a Rift item to be thrown in, I think it has to actually be an item it can give you rather than just any item with Rift in its name, but I don't know. According to the staff, it seems like the chances are higher on certain days, but I don't know if it's specifically days of the week, or if it's to do with the pattern of days or something. And people have said that wearing Rift items or having a Rift pet as your active pet can help, but I don't think those are absolutely necessary. I've also heard that certain times of the day might also be involved, or at least doing it when a new hour starts.

So anyway, if you've gotten the skin, you can mention here if you were doing anything at the time that you think might have helped towards it. I'll update this post to include any recurring things, and if we manage to get any exact answers, I'll add those too.

Worn items: Antique Compass, Peka Highlands Legendary Track, Emergency Repair Kit, Bottled Rays of Golden Sunshine, Tri Sheltie Companion, Stained Glasswing Chrysalis (I have worn this outfit during previous failed attempts so I don't think it's a wearable thing)

This is the second day in a row I've tossed in Rift-Touched Eggs Sunny Side Up but I've been tossing those in all along, mostly on an every-other-day basis (using the days in between to make the Rift-Touched Eggs) and while I'm not certain, I am pretty sure I have tossed in Rift-Touched Eggs for at least two consecutive days in the past. I wasn't intentionally adhering to a rigid schedule or anything; I just usually made one and then yeeted it the next day to get it out of my inventory. If I made more than one at a time in the past, the extra was probably locked in my inventory then too. This is the second time (yesterday being the first) that I tossed in Rift-Touched Eggs I didn't get from the Rift myself (a friend gifted these to me).

I don't know if the time is exact but it should be darn close. Unfortunately I don't have any more info because it was a while back now.

[edit] I'm going to add my theory that maybe two numbers need to be the same at the time. For example Atomic's above was 3:37 so two 3's, and mine was at 5:45 so two 5's. Even if I was a minute off recording it at 5:44 there would have been two 4's.

Like theorized, I threw in a Rift-Touched Pie Slice at 5:58pm, and got the skin.

Maybe it's not just the day, maybe each day there's a certain item that will do it?

I threw in Rift-Touched Bunny Plushie at 1:55AM Subeta time, but that didn't work so it was probably the wrong item today.

Threw in another Bunny Plushie at about 2:53AM, still nothing.

I finally got it!!! Threw in another bunny plushie at 5:05AM Subeta time. Seems like the "minute digit being the same as the hour digit" trick works better.

I wonder what else requirements there are, if it's true that the a number in the hour and minute needs to be the same, but it doesn't always work for everyone. Or it's all just a red herring and nothing to do with that...

Not to poop on the party or anything but I think the numbers thing is just a coincidence. The chance that the time contains the same digit at least twice is pretty high.
