Hello everyone, I just started using Subeta! I saw that there are a lot of different places where you can complete quests, and I did all of Sarah's for today which was no trouble at all. But I was wondering: what if a quest giver asked for a super expensive item? Are quest prizes sometimes bad, in relation to how much you have to spend for them? Also, I have no conception of what counts as "a lot of money" on here x)
Thanks in advance for your answers :)
I'd say all quests are worth it.
First, being new, you have all the quest achievements to look forward to. You get those by doing a certain number of each type of quest (I think the highest is 1000).
There are a few questers who you can lose money on per quest but gain money on as a whole. Particularly: Sagittarius, Library, and Quentin. Saggy sometimes gives you less than what you paid for on items for a quest, but almost always you come ahead for all his quests done per day. Quentin often asks for holiday items - things that require special currency or that are only sold during certain times of the year. You can still get these from user shops, but usually around the 50k price, which is a bit steep for the prizes they give out. However, you can also get mage amulets from them, which sell for a pretty decent amount or which you can use to help train your pet.
As for the library, I haven't paid close attention to the cost of the items it gives vs the cost of the items it asks for, so I can't say for certain that they're worth it in the end. But I still do them anyway, because once you're used to questing one batch takes about five minutes.
Then there're the Morty Cards, which are randomly given out as a reward for any quest. Once redeemed, you will earn 5 CSC per quest for five quests - a total of 25 CSC. CSC is a different currency to sP and can be used to purchase things from the cash shop, such as certain clothing and gold accounts. They're not given out often, so the more quests you do, the more chance you get of receiving a Morty Card.
I'd say on a good day, I could get around 4 million sP from doing the quests and then another 3-5 million sP selling all the reward items I don't want. Especially if you have a gold account (which gives you five extra quests per quester and allows you to autoprice the items in your shop), it's really not difficult to make sP around here. And a gold account is not expensive - 150 CSC for a 1-week medallion, which is also currently available in user shops for 8-9 million sP, or 500 CSC ($5) for a whole month.
Of all the quests, I'd say the Wizard is always worth it, because he gives out wizard tokens, which is a special currency that can be used to zap pets and buy things from the Token Shop when it's open. Supposedly they can be used at Black Heart Hollow too, but it stocks so rarely I've never actually seen anything in there.
Finally, it's difficult to say what is a lot of money on this site, because with so many currencies running around, everything is relative. It depends on what you're aiming at. As I mentioned earlier, you can get around ~8 mill sP on a good day of questing, and most things you'll want to buy, especially when you're just starting out, will be less than 8 mill. Even if you only earned 3 mill per day, you could reach a goal of say the Harvest Potion (currently sitting at about 28 mill) within a couple of weeks. Rarer and retired items can be pretty expensive, but they are sometimes re-released in special ways to make them more accessible to the average user. That's a nice thing about Subeta - it's not about frustrating you with unattainable items.
[Edit]Another post just reminded me that very occasionally, a quester will ask for something that doesn't exist in user shops or that is around 1 mill or higher. This usually happens with new releases that haven't circulated enough to go down in price yet. In those cases, I would just cancel the quest and go on to the next one.
Thank you so much for this highly detailed answer! Wow there is so much too learn. I am pretty excited about the achievements but can I bother you with another question? On my achievement page I can see that I have 10 achievements, but I am not sure how to see which ones I have.
On the achievements page at the very top there's a bolded word that says "Show" and next to that four options, All, Earned, In Progress, and Retired. If you select the one that says "Earned" you should be able to see which achievements you have already earned.
Happy to help, and welcome to Subeta! :) If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
Hmm I tried that but for some reason I only see one achievement, my most recent.
In any case thank you so much again! I think I'm good on questions for now, I'll go on and discover more things by myself :D
I clicked on your username to go to your user profile and clicked Achievements and it now shows you have thirteen and shows me what they are.
File a TIcket in Help and see if there is a problem on your end and if they can help you resolve this.
Two things.
achievements. These are listed in groups, so there is no way to see all your achievements at one time. You need to click the categories on the left side of the screen (newest, basic, social, commerce, items...etc.) to see all your achievements once you click the Earned button across the top.
As said, generally speaking all quests are "worth it," however, you will lose site currency on many of the Library quests. But the item rewards you get are usually worth it and you should end up breaking even, losing a small amount, or some days making a small profit if you do all the library quests.
One other factor, you really want to concentrate on getting all your achievements for the Sarah quests early on. So if you only have a limited time to quest, start with hers. After you've been onsite for a certain period of time (I can't remember for sure, but I think its 6 months), you will only be able to do Sarah quests if you have less than 1.5 Million total sP. Much easier to get them done early on.

I feel like it really depends on what your goal is. If you're trying to save sP, not all quests are good. For example, the money you get from Quentin doesn't always cover the cost of items and the reward items are a very mixed bag. Sometimes I get actually good stuff that I want or can sell to make up for it, other times it's just cheap items that don't cover the difference. :/ This can happen with the Library quests too. I usually give myself a cap on how much I'm willing to spend per quest and stick to that.
Otherwise, I'd say all quests are worth it. I usually throw cheap items into the fragmentizer for crystals, and even when the reward isn't good there's still a chance that you might get Morty cards or quest points. :)
If you have the sP to spend, then yes doing all your quests are worth during the end of the day.
Aside from the sP factor, theres chances to get current items that sell for million in user shops, factor in getting up to 27 Quest Points a day with a Gold Account, occasional morty cards which you can seel for sP or redeem for csc. Also Shinwas/Quentin's stat booster chance is a good sP maker as well. So the value at the end of day can be quite profitable for the quester.

i don't have anything to add bc they definitely covered it......but welcome :-)
The Library quests can be a mixed bag, depending on how much time you want to spend making sP. Alexander frequently asks for cheaper books (2000-7000 sP), and almost always gives more sP than what you spent, plus a rare item.
The items are the real reward, since frequently you can get items worth 50k - 70k (sometimes more). The key to making a profit off of Library quests is to make sure you actually sell those items, if you don't plan on keeping them yourself.
I also strongly recommend doing Shinwa's quest first thing, before you do any of your other quests for the day, if you're not doing that already. She has a pretty high chance of giving you valuable stat boosting items that are easy to sell for quick sP, and if you plan on battling, you can hoard them 'til the training center is too costly/slow to be worthwhile (but that's a LONG way from now, since you just started).
