How does a service provider not have updated MySQL. Is it such a legacy database that no one supports it anymore?

Thank you for this update! I hope that this level of communication will be the norm going forward. While the news post still directed to a forum post (which may not be ideal in cases where the forums are down) I'm glad that it was a news post so everyone could be made aware of it, not just people who browse the forums and happen across a thread. That's been a big issue in the past and I'm glad that you're aware of it and are going to make an effort to communicate more regularly and visibly.

I appreciate all the hard work you guys have been doing! Moving data, fixing the servers and rebuilding a site that's been around for 15 years is a huge task for any team but especially a small one.
