These may be silly questions. I find myself wondering why I am fragging everyday and collecting crystals. Historically, approximately how often does the Crystal Shop restock? Are there any other uses for the crystals that I am not aware of?

The only use for the crystals is to purchase things from the shop. Items get added to it kind of randomly, it's usually old items that were from a previous event or otherwise have gotten expensive and aren't being released in other ways anymore, although occasionally they will put some new items in there. Some of the items can be kind of expensive, so it can be nice to have a little stash of crystals ready in case something gets put there that you want.

i tried looking through last year's news archive to see how many times the shop got restocked but since the archive doesn't include post titles, not every restock includes the word "crystal" so i probably missed some.

that said, i counted 5 restocks in 2019, though i feel like there may have been a few more than that. however the stock had been accumulating over the last few years (maybe more? i don't remember when the last clearout was, i didn't keep up with that stuff back then) and was cleared this january, so obviously it'll take a while for there to be that many things again.

some items sell out basically instantly, so even with multiple restocks, you might still end up with a barren crystal shop for a while.

Also they only put a certain amount in the shop. Most of the time this doesn't matter a lot because things can tend to stay in there a while. However, when they release something extremely rare and popular, like the Universal Remote, it can disappear very, very fast. I didn't get one last time even though I had the crystals for it because it sold out so quickly.

So having the crystals on hand can be helpful.

It is oddly empty right now.

They haven't had anything added to there for a while. I hope they add something again soon. And I hope they bring back the shop exclusive items at some point since they got cleared along with everything else and are very expensive to buy with SP.
