I was hoping maybe one day, we could get a referral link that doesn't include username ( numbers or random generated code would be great, even if it expires) Because sometimes I want to refer people but I don't really want to give out my username to them? If that makes sense. Like it helps add a layer of privacy (theres been a few places I would like to post a refer link but I dont want them instantly adding me because we aren't that close) I know this will probably get a few responses like then dont refer that person, yeah, I've been selective about who I referred and then I dont get a lot of followup- I think it would be cool if I could post it somewhere I might get more responses bc I have mutuals (tumblr, twitter, fb, but not have my username right in the url.) I would also like the ability to have privacy when referring people. Not just for new ones, but for old ones too. I have someone I referred years and years ago, and we had a pretty bad falling out IRL. They don't show up to Subeta often, but when they do, it makes me feel very on edge because their name is linked to my account on the referral page :S

I swear we used to have one that used your user number. Your number isn't anonymous but I doubt people who you refer by clicking would know how to trace it back to your username.

We're told for security reasons we should not use the same username across platforms. Yet at the same time we're doing something for the site (referring people) and are forced to link our username to a different social media. What's the point in taking security measures if we have no choice but to undermine those measures?

I thought the whole purpose of any referral mechanic is precisely to get newcomers to be more sticky because they know someone. Otherwise, it's just advertising.
