We have user links using userid=XXXXX, but with users going inactive and losing names, changing pet names, and the possibility of non-unique pet names on the horizon, why not have petid=XXXXX links as well? I'm not sure if adding things like this is difficult to do, but I think it would be worthwhile to add if it's not going to be a huge mess to implement. If we get non-unique pet names it will probably be pet link pandemonium without it!

We'd probably also need an easier way to find/see our pet's ID to go along with this, since right now we only find it in the URL or by viewing a pet page's source. Perhaps this could be added to the pets page?

Pet ID provides a permanent way to link to a specific pet that will always work even when the pet changes hands, the user goes inactive and loses their name, or the pet's name changes, because the ID cannot be changed.

Though I think it would probably add to the load on the site keeping up with so many unique Pet IDs it might solve some of my searching issues and it would definitely make creating a permanent like to a specific pet possible which would be awesome.

It's been a hot minute since the non-unique pet names change, and I agree this is needed all the more now. It was hard enough before to keep track of a pet when they could be renamed, but now that the links are dependent on who owns them it becomes darn near impossible. Unless a pet has a legacy name and you use that link, the link changes constantly based on who owns it and what name they decide it should have this month (or even what username they have).

A link that used the id numbers would help to avoid a lot of broken links and it would help in places like the adoption center where pets change hands often.

Good idea, very practical, I already found myself wishing I could link to my pets via ID number since I know they'll be changing around a lot in the future.

I'd love to be able to use pet ID to link pets with sCodes so I don't have to worry about username change or pet name change. Since I just changed my username yesterday, I feel bad for leaving a few broken pet scodes on the forum.
