Would you like to keep a human base while cooking up a zombie skin for your collection? Since it's survival I will share my own zombie-coverup layering to appear as a normal human. The only catch is that I recommend gathering up some older backgrounds that use the HA cutout in order to proceed with these. I originally posted this in "Share your layering secrets" thread, but thought it warranted a dedicated thread for this time of year. Feel free to take these shared outfits to the wardrobe and use them as a base to make your own avatar. (Apologies for leaving in the snowball shield. It's that time of year lol.)

These all are built from the bottom/base up

base 1 So... this is all I got for the first base. This is what I used to do like 7 years ago when I covered up, hear me out.

  1. this totally blocks out every part of your zombie self.
  2. This will be a light peachy tone to fill in the missing spots of the next item.
  3. [item=Ghouls Choice Liquid Latex (Fair)] This has spots missing but otherwise a great way to coverup. It also adds necessary outlines that the curious dolls seem to miss.
  4. As it stands, this is the only item I know of that is non CW and lightens the base to this degree. There is NO other official white/light filter item. The white cordial does nothing. And yes, it has a sheen that you must cover with clothes.
  5. Background WITH cutout for HA. This is to cover up the items that go beyond the HA shape.
  6. The liquid latex has a funky/thin outline, the artist pencil cleans things back up.
  7. Drag and drop your base features (eyes, nose, mouth) to the top. Before these were moveable, covering up was more of a pain! But now you're indistinguishable from the average human.
  8. [item=Single Sheer Glove (Base 1)] (optional) Without this the outline of the fingers in the liquid latex aren't the best. With this, it returns the hand back to the normal appearance of the base.

  4. [item=Ghouls Choice Liquid Latex (Fair)] This has spots missing but otherwise a great way to coverup. It also adds necessary outlines that the curious dolls seem to miss.

  4. [item=Ghouls Choice Liquid Latex (Fair)] This has spots missing but otherwise a great way to coverup. It also adds necessary outlines that the curious dolls seem to miss.
  5. This will darken the base to match the base 3 glove.
  6. When using backgrounds with cutouts, sometimes the outline of the base gets lost or messed up. The artist pencil will restore it.
  7. Drag and drop your base features (eyes, nose, mouth) to the top. Before these were moveable, covering up was more of a pain! But now you're indistinguishable from the average human.
  8. [item=Single Sheer Glove (Base 3)] (optional) Without this, when using the curious dolls, they create a dark gradient going down the hand, also, the outline of the fingers in the liquid latex aren't the best. With this, it returns the hand back to the normal appearance of the base.

Base 4 and 5 This is the best I can do for these medium tones, I can't figure out what else to add to distinguish them.

  1. this totally blocks out every part of your zombie self.
  2. This will be the base for medium tone to fill in the missing spots of the 4th item.
  3. This will improve the base for medium tone to fill in the missing spots of the 4th item.
  4. [item=Ghouls Choice Liquid Latex (Medium)] This has spots missing but otherwise a great way to coverup. It also adds necessary outlines that the curious dolls seem to miss.
  5. This will further darken the base.
  6. This will improve the base for medium tone.
  7. Background WITH cutout for HA. This is to cover up the fact that the cordial is a filter.
  8. When using backgrounds with cutouts, sometimes the outline of the base gets lost or messed up. The artist pencil will restore it.

  10. [item=Single Sheer Glove (Base 4)][item=Single Sheer Glove (Base 5)] (optional) Without this, when using the curious dolls, they create a dark gradient going down the hand, also, the outline of the fingers in the liquid latex aren't the best. With this, it returns the hand back to the normal appearance of the base.

I will not be using the dark liquid latex for the rest due to the white spots (errors?) that are harder to cover up.

Base 7

  1. this totally blocks out every part of your zombie self.
  2. this will be the new darker base.
  3. This will further darken the base.
  4. This will slightly lighten the base to match the base 7 glove.
  5. When using backgrounds with cutouts, sometimes the outline of the base gets lost or messed up. The artist pencil will restore it.
  6. Drag and drop your base features (eyes, nose, mouth) to the top. Before these were moveable, covering up was more of a pain! But now you're indistinguishable from the average human.

Not that affordable but if you have a piano key it will work.

  1. this totally blocks out every part of your zombie self.
  2. this will be the new darker base.
  3. This will further darken the base.
  4. Background WITH cutout for HA. This is to cover up the fact that the piano key is a filter.
  5. This will darken further and add the necessary brown tone to match the base 9 glove.
  6. When using backgrounds with cutouts, sometimes the outline of the base gets lost or messed up. The artist pencil will restore it.
  7. Drag and drop your base features (eyes, nose, mouth) to the top. Before these were moveable, covering up was more of a pain! But now you're indistinguishable from the average human.

these are amazing! I'm so going to be trying these methods out! Thank you for sharing this!!

My current technique for 'human' avatars while strain progressing has been to just start layering curious dolls, blushes, brushes and other 'face' items over a full background which is a vaguely appropriate colour. Which is how I got the amazing putrefaction tones in the skin of my current HA. Outfit Not Found

Thank you and no problem ^^ I saw your avatar when you posted this so I know what you were talking about.

Back in the day before we could move the base features, and before redeemable skins, the main desire for us zombie coverups were noses. I bought back then but it's no longer that useful in today's coverup game. Or it could be (hence why I'm mentioning it) if someone only wanted to cover their face.. it might take some layering with curious dolls but could work. I forget how exactly I did it back then, it likely involved the mime box I listed in the base 1 steps.

were also big wants back then and could be still useful going down that route.

[item=genetech secondskin v.2] also existed but is extremely rare and expensive.

ah yes that reminds me, these I also used and layered my own hairs over it to cover

Just some more ideas if people wanted to go really oldschool with it. There are so many new items now to help in layering a human appearance now, especially the curious dolls.

thanks! <3 I originally only made a guide for base 3 - the one I use - but I felt bad that it wouldn't work for everyone. So to make it fair I did one for 1-10.

thank you and no problem ^^ Ah the mime makeup, I forgot about that (despite listing the harlequin version in my previous post lol)

Thanks for this! I opted for because I couldn't find a cutout background I really liked, but I'm glad I can look relatively normal until my final strain finishes :P
