hi!! my name is evie :) so i'm a newbie to this site after finally giving up on NP due to frustration over trying to get access to my 12 year old account and not being able to get back into the swing of things with a new account. i figured i would try something new and join subeta! i've just been doing a lot of quests which seem pretty lucrative. this might be a dumb question but what's the inflation (for lack of a better word choice) like for this site lol? like for neopets i had a frame of reference since i was active on it for years but here i have no idea what is "poor"/"rich" is. all i know is the first thing did once i had enough money was get a chibi pet so i'm content right now
oh also, i have a crush on quentin. just had to mention
Hello welcome!! :) Enjoy subeta <3
Haha, welcome to subeta. I failed economics (to be fair it was an AP course that I really should not have taken) so I couldn't tell you about inflation, but I can tell you that it's a heeeeell of a lot easier to make money here than at Neo. Just keep doin' them quests, and you'll be fine.
Welcome to Subeta! A little difference from NP here is that our USD/Cash currency (CSC), which is the equivalent of NC is able to be sold for sP. It means that it's not too difficult to buy cash shop items and sell for sP, or earn sP and purchase cash shop items.
Because sP is not very difficult to earn, you can probably see that some items seem very expensive (our shop search can find items purchasable up to 100 mil sP), but whilst this number might seem a bit overwhelming, it's not difficult to earn if you do things like questing, you are probably able to get around 2mil a day in sP, and more if you sell the items or purchase a gold account (our equivalent of Premium)
At the same time, there are decent wearables, or pet colors which are really affordable and well under 1 million sP, so even if you do not have a hoard of sP, you can still hopefully have fun onsite!
Over here our shop search is the equivalent of SSW for all users (not just Gold Account holders), but gold account users have some perks which make pricing your shop easier, a larger inventory, amongst other features.
Hope that helps a bit? We have a lot of expats here, so we can try to familiarise you with lingo or anything else if you need c:

Thank you for the warm welcome and helpful answers! Those links are very useful. I did have one question, sorry if this is answered in one of the links or elsewhere on the site -- I'm accumulating a lot of New Years tokens and I see that previous years' items cost more tokens. Should I be spending them on the 2020 items or saving them up?
I also see that a lot of the items on there, people have listed in their shops for a lot of sP. For example, "Roaring 20s Silver New Years Jacket Pocket" is only 4 tokens but is listed at 10m sP. Does it actually sell for that much when people could just get it for cheaper (I'm assuming) with tokens at the New Years Shop? I hope I'm doing this pinging thing right haha.
You can do whatever you want with your tokens! If there are items from this year that you want, spend them on those... or you can save them. The tokens will stop dropping through quests and events on the... 17th, I think? ...so if you find yourself wanting a lot of older items, maybe keep hold of them until the event is over and see how many you have at the end. They won't go anywhere, and those items will always be there.. And the shop never closes, you can access it year round. There are also always plenty of users who sell currencies, usually at a discount, if you run out of tokens or whatever currency.
People will sometimes buy the holiday items from shops if they don't have enough of that currency and feel they need that item RIGHT NOW and don't want to wait around for someone to sell it to them. There's usually quite a bit of markup and I've never quite understood why lol. Hot Take Hat Pin is a current item and only 1 token, but the user shop price is like 3m... but buying one New Year token from user shops is only 17k. shrugs
and Logic does not always reign around here. LOL

I don't think the items generally sell for more than the currency by a lot, unless someone is really lazy and would rather buy off the shop search than going through turning in a currency, but I don't imagine it is very easy to sell. I probably wouldn't make an effort to turn currency to expensive things on shop search, because I'm not sure if you'd be able to sell it any time soon, and if you don't want the item, someone can undercut easily and drop the price to the "true" value
Hope that helps a bit?
