Has anyone played these games? It's my favorite series, and I have a lot of nostalgia connected to it - Dekar from the second game is probably my all-time favorite game character!
(I actually purchased a Pet Slot wanting to make a pet based on him - just need to decide on a species now!)
I have a lot of good memories connected with these games, and it's still nice to fire up the SNES for another run through....
I remember loving those games! Top games, and I wish they would be remade with new graphics and all that. The games deserve it!
Absolutely!! Curse of the Sinistrals on the DS was fun, but it was more an AU than a remake... Tia, Artea, and Lexis are pretty much completely different characters and they cut a lot of the sidequests!
Sometimes I wonder what the canceled game Ruins Chasers would have been like too....
Wait a sec, was there rumored to be another Lufia game?? argh, that would have been amazing!
I recently bought Romancing Saga 2 for the PS4, and while I'm liking it, it looks way inferior to the Lufia games on the SNES. So, why not port them to the PS4? I see you mentioning the DS, but I don't have that one :P I'd love a rerelease on the PS4 with both games, it would be amazing!
Yeah, Lufia 3: Runis Chasers was supposed to come out on the PSX but was put on hold; the third game ended up being Legend Returns, which was completely different!
Here's an article about it with concept art - the main character, Cion, actually looks a lot like Maxim's redesign in Curse of the Sinistrals. And there was one other DS game, Ruins of Lore, which takes place after Lufia 2; it's a side story without the Sinistrals or Maxim family member, but an older Dekar joins the party to help out the young heroes. (This was great for me, since Dekar's my favorite!)
And yeah, a PS4 port would be amazing! Secret of Mana got a big shiny remake and that's at least as obscure!
Wow, I never knew! Thanks for the link, it was a shame the company was bankrupt, otherwise it sounds as it would have been released.
Yeah, Secret of Mana, I thought about getting the remake, but the 'action' style doesn't suit my preference of turn based games, so I ignored it lol
Yeah I remember being REALLY excited for it - I begged for a Playstation just so I could get this game when it came out! (I did get my Playstation though, and ended up with FFVII instead - there's a remake I'm looking forward to!)
Can't believe Rise Of The Sinistrals will be 25 next month - I'm going to have to do a special anniversary playthrough, and keep hoping for a proper remake!
LOL! That's too cute XD Getting a console for one specific game, and then the game doesn't release :P But yeah, while I am not a big fan of FF VII, I do love the whole series, and am mildly anticipating the remake, specially since I hear there will be a turn based mode in addition to the action one.
25 years!! I have a lot of games already started, not sure I can allow myself another playthrough of Lufia, but... I will consider it lol
I know the feeling! But now I also want to play Fortress of Doom in the lead-up to the anniversary... even though I still need to finish Indivisible and a few other things.
I didn't know FFVII was getting a turn-based mode! Seems turn-based is getting scarce overall, though the Bravely series' popularity might get us a revival yet.
Yeah, us gamers have that huge responsibility to keep gaming, looming over us :P
Yeah, in the game is called 'classic mode', and since I suck at action games, I couldn't be happier. Yeah, I love that there are still a few games released that are turn based, otherwise I'd die lol I'm playing Trails Of Cold Steel, and since it's game based, it's a really attractive option.
By the way, I accepted your invite, so hello there new friend! ♥
Hello Friend!! ^^
And yeah, it'd be nice if more games had that kind of option. I like action RPG well enough, but there's a lot to be said for the strategies you need to build for turn-based! When to hold a character for a turn, when to time your spells and items... it adds another level of thought to the battles, I think.
