So I was thinking since I can pay for a custom pet image, it would be nice if I could pay to host graphics as well specifically tied to pet profile graphics. Like allow me to submit my code with the current image host and then pay CSC to have it spit back at me with img urls hosted on subeta.net. of course still with site approval. But that way I know the profile graphics wise will be there forever
I would love to see this. The image hosting world changes so often and a lot of times without notice. Something like this would be very helpful.

Sounds like a darn useful sP/CSC-sink mechanism to me
That would be amazing, I've lost so many things because of image hosts changing
I have lost countless profiles over the years due to missing/broken graphics. Let me throw more money on site for my pixels. If they find this lucrative tie this to hosting profile images too and Bam huge money sink.
The only issue I can see with this is people hosting their stuff here, but using the images offsite.
If I can spend 1000CSC on image hosting for... idk, 50mb of images, you can bet your butt I'll spend it. But unless Subeta can watermark/blur the images (like photobucket did) for any offsite service, people are going to buy CSC from user shops (or use morty cards) and spend it on essentially free image hosting.
If they can lock it down and make it so the images can only work on Subeta? I'm down. Heck, I'd barely have a use for my imgur account if that happened. I'd also be down for CSS hosting for pet/user profiles. :x Put my CSS in one place on Subeta, check a checkbox on the Edit Pet's Profile page to use the stored CSS, tweak a few lines as needed and have a load more space for stories. Plus, it axes having to wade through code to get to that one typo you noticed in your story.
If I do remember correctly, Subeta created a sibling company that did free image hosting for a while, it's name plagues me at the moment but it offered similar capabilities as to what is being described above, sans the sP/CSC sink. I think this would be a great idea to bring back and allow the use of the sP/CSC sink.
I so agree with Frost there has to be something conditional, to where this wouldn't be used as some off site hosting to post the files else where.
I think there should be a flat 50MB for XXX amount of CSC and those that Subscribe to get CSC should get 100MB of hosting capabilities.

My only concern with preventing hotlinking is that there are sites that use subeta images. I am not a technical code person so I am not sure it could be just relegated to a few files. Like can there be a container for user uploads that would then be codes to only display on subeta.net.
:/ Another thing that crossed my mind recently is how difficult moderation of uploaded images would be. I know that the sitewide custom overlays have to be manually checked and approved, ditto with CWs. I don't remember if it's the same situation with the billboard ads (I want to say yes but I'm not 100% sure), so this would be very difficult for Subeta to do with the manpower it currently has available. They could make it work on a report-only basis, but they still risk file bloat and inappropriate image uploads slipping through the cracks.
I want to say that billboards also have to be approved but it's been a year and I don't quite remember either. If people are fine with waiting though, they might be able to squeeze in? I think CW approval might be its own job, which helps.
Billboards do have to be approved, I had one approved a few weeks ago.
Well if they opened it up in batches that could be potentially avoided. First I would do a poll and see how much interest. I feel like there would be a limited consumer base aka profile makers and those that commission them. However, cost is always an issue and there are way more people without fancy graphics .etc than those with. Take into account those who don't partake in the aspect of pets or those that do not partake in the social aspect of the forums. So on a temporary basis open it one week per month. As a new feature it will probably get the most use the first few batches and then drastically decrease. Or do a limit per submission with a cool off period
