I really like historical fiction, but love reading a good biography, too.
Getting the topic back to life. :D
Mostly books about leadership, enterpreneurship or biographies. Also quite many topic specific textbooks and (not so preferred but mäh because of general knowledge) older works as from Molière, Zweig, Kleist, Brecht...
Fanfiction in general, näh. Only from a few anime-fandoms but that is it regarding non-real matter. Exept everything from Arthur Doyle. I LOVE the old books from him - with and without Sherlock. They're all great. :D

this was necro'ed :(
I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.
The necro rule was changed to 6 months instead of 3 and this post is still within 6 months: Updated Necro Rule.

From nonfiction mostly books on productivity and general life-management. Also some biographies, art history and art books.
For fiction - fantasy, classic literature, and fanfic.
I'm not sure which I read more tbh.
I prefer fiction, but have loads of non-fiction too. Mostly animal-related. The two main genres I love are horror and historical.
I usually read fiction. If I do read non-fiction, it's usually self-help books.
I mainly stick to reading fiction - like criminal tales, horror stories, etc
When I was younger I mostly stuck to reading fiction, usually epic fantasy type( a la Lord of the Rings) and it's still the main genre I tend to read when I read fiction, but lately I've been reading a lot more non-fiction stuff for leisure too.
So, I guess it's fiction and non-fiction(non-fiction usually being historical or biographical) for me.
I read tons of fiction. My favourite genre being fantasy by far, but I also love lots of classic literature, sci fi, mystery, and a fair bit of "chick lit" too! I also read tons of graphic novels and comics if they count too.
I like a fair bit of non fiction too, although my range is not as wide (or obscure) as my taste in fiction. I am mostly interested in topics to do with nature and astronomy.

I prefer fiction, high fantasy, science fiction, mistery thriller, or just a feelgood story with unlikely and funny events, it doesn't matter if it's good. When I read non-fiction it's either biology textbook, ecology or wildlife conservation. Autobiographies and such are just not for me...

I enjoy both, although I mostly read non-fiction/science books for academic purposes (and out of curiosity about world's events). At the same time, I think fiction says a lot about society we live in, too; about history, culture etc. – just not in such an obvious way (for example, the way of portraying women in classic literature, like War and Peace or Anna Karenina, says a lot about Tolstoy's, and probably not only his, expectations for women of that era... and not only that era).
